I think the best way is to set the system up to use Option for returns on anything that uses this so people can set a default or ignore it if nothing is found. same internally. Result I would avoid unless there was some sort of Actual Error that we would want to show, in most case's its more of this doesn't Exist so lets set it to 0 or default and when a tab does get added then we just act as if that was the main tab since its first.
Also no worries on API changes as this is not a big deal atm since I have plans to align the Version with Iced to make it less confusing. so your covered.
