A guide to getting IIIF resources from the community
Home Page: https://guides.iiif.io
A general guide to putting the property navPlace
on a IIIF resource, then setting up Leaflet to read that property for those geographic coordinates. Though instructions will be geared towards making this work with Leaflet, the process will be similar for other web mapping platforms.
Based on @jronallo's config and this thread.
Expand/re-title the existing Apache note, or write a new one?
List of tests it might be useful to add:
:
in page title as this breaks the index.md listSince I recently faced the issue with different IIIF providers, I wonder if it would make sense to add a note in the Enabling CORS section to explain that the HTTP Header should also be present on the redirect response. When a manifest or info.json url is redirected to a new one, clients are still broken if the redirect is not itself cors-enabled.
I am not completely sure but I guess this can be solved in Apache by using Header always set ...
.
It might also be useful to point implementers to https://enable-cors.org, that has recipes for many servers other than Apache.
As more use cases and technologies comes from the Maps sector, the more it needs to be categorized through the IIIF stack.
The Maps community has identified the potential for a new IIIF guide. With the advent of the navPlace Extension and Georeference Extension there are multiple paths to take for various mapping use cases, some of which are not obvious for how to start.
Recipes have been or will be created for the "how to technically" do these things (https://iiif.io/guides/guides/navplace/). However, a guide to get started and pick your arch through the technologies has not been created.
The IIIF Maps groups propose some kind of "Mapping in IIIF" guide to discuss when to use Geolocating Annotation, when to use Georeference Annotations, and when to use navPlace
