Iota Visual Simulation

This is a visualization aid for those interested in the Iota data structure, the tangle. It is written using React and D3.js.

Setting up

After cloning the repo, run:

npm install

to download dependencies.

To run locally during development, use:

npm run dev-server

and go to localhost:9000 in your browser.

Testing & Linting

Before submitting PRs, make sure the code passes tests and lints by running the following:

npm test
npm run lint

Questions about Tip selection and grey nodes in this visualization

Hi, I am learning IOTA Tangle and find this visualization is very interesting.
Well, I am not sure what do the grey nodes mean in this Tangle, which appeared sometimes? I noticed that they were not treated as Tips even though no newer transactions approved them at all. Are they just not seen by all nodes, which means unsynchronized? Or what are they?
And what is the stop criteria for Weighted Random Walk? Until reaching a tip?

Is it possible to generate Tangles with no nodes which approve only one transaction?

Hey there,
I took a look at the visualization and noticed, that in every Tangle I generated there are transactions which only approve one other transaction instead of two. Is it possible to avoid that?

Move buttons & sliders around to make everything fit on the screen and look nice

Add a help page to explain factor and tips select algorithm

Highlight direct approvers and approvees in a stronger color than indirect ones

Not to re-generate new tangle when changing factor

It is annoying to "complete regenerate a new tangle" when dragging the slider or changing algorithm of tips selection.

I would like to see the same site with different algo or factor, but not complete regenerate a new one.

Currently sliders are impossible to use

Logarithmic scale for alpha and lambda and nodeCount (to allow choosing small values)
