fair-rna's Issues

Award compliant Software with a badge

Encourage users and developers to report tools that comply well with FAIR-RNA. We could then list those tools with a badge, developers can promote their "FAIR-RNA certification", which would make the tool more trustworthy and enable users to make better informed choices.

README.md Feedback

Great work! The readme is concise and meets all of the Hackseq requirements.

Some personal notes I have though are (optional):

  • Give your readers an actionable item. I imagine for your particular project that the readme is the first thing people will see, give them a way to check whether their projects meet the standards, or how they can hold the developers of the software they use accountable to it.

Endorse FAIR-RNA

If you like and agree with the FAIR-RNA manifesto, regardless of whether you are a software developer, user, publisher or other stakeholder, please add a ๐Ÿ‘ to this issue to show your support! ๐Ÿ™

If you would like to get involved in this project as a contributor or ambassador, please reply to this issue or check the contributing guidelines to get in touch.

Additional guidelines for USERS

  • Do not use SOFTWARE that you do not understand.
Similarly, do not just use SOFTWARE to see what comes out. Do not just apply different SOFTWARE to your data and see what looks best. All of these approaches are unscientific, and conclusions drawn from them are shaky at best.

  • Give feedback to DEVELOPER.

  • Consider contributing to a SOFTWARE you care about.

Draft cover letter for paper submission

We can submit our efforts to the BioHackrXiv as a pre-print as soon as possible and in the meantime try to get some leverage to help us publish in the RNA journal. If that doesn't work out (I'm a bit concerned about the focus on RNA in the manifesto itself), we can see what other options we have or whether we are happy with just the pre-print.
