Use Metallic or Patterns Form to set up relationship?

Model Associations

The current project structure allows users to identify patterns used with each material on the material(beads, silks, metallics) form. The materials will then be displayed in an unordered list on each Pattern Show page.
A better structure may be to add the materials to the pattern. A user would add a pattern and then go through each material category (DMCs, silks, metallics, beads, other?) to add the relevant materials. The materials would be linked to the Pattern and would be listed (with a link) on each material's Show page.
