to-google-translate's Issues

Allow for multiple target translations

Add more than one setting for "Translate From To". Useful if people want translation in more than one languages.

Usage examples:
Be able to have all these in the context menu.
Translate from Auto to English
Translate from Auto to French
Translate from English to French

Nightly has blocked its loading in this context in accordance with the X-Frame-Options policy for this page

“因 X-Frame-Options 政策阻止

连接到 translate.google.cn 时发生错误。

Nightly 已依照该页面的 X-Frame-Options 政策阻止了其在此上下文中的载入。”

但是我可以正常打开translate.google.cn

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/to-google-translate/reviews/1445103/

--- English version

"Blocked by the X-Frame-Options policy

An error occurred while connecting to translate.google.com.

Nightly has blocked its loading in this context in accordance with the X-Frame-Options policy for this page. ”

But I can open translate.google.cn normally.

Can't Sign in to google.com

Firefox is already signed in to the google.com, however in the translation pop-up, I still see the Sign in button. When I click on that button, the page get redirected to https://translate.google.com/m/translate?pli=1 and I can see I'm already signed in.

Refreshing page didn't help as well as restarting the browser.
My FF version is 61.0.2 (64-bit)
My add-on version is 3.3

License issues

Previously I recommended a modification of the GPL guidelines which was wrong. Now I've had a fresh look on the actual license.

full-page problem

Repeating comment on firefox page: "Great extension, worked perfectly with a selection of text, but when I asked for a full-page translation, Google Translate sent me in an endless loop of authentications." You replied: "Hello, can you please post me this on Github with some screenshots and OS, Firefox version information? Thank you". My OS is Linux Mint version 4.15.0-72-generic GNU/Linux. My Firefox version is 71.0 (64-bit). Here, I hope, is a screenshot. When I do the reCaptcha stuff it just cycles back to the same output. Hope this helps! Thanks for developing this.

What to do when I don't want to approve the new permissions

Weighing the modal window feature #46 against the change in permissions to allow the extension access to everything I browse - I'd like to keep the old permissions and ditch the modal. Judging by the comments at the addon page I might not be the only one. Is there any way users like me can be accommodated? I mean short of forking the extension and creating own addon.

Default "Translate to"

Set default "translate to" to default to browser languages setting as set by user preference.

Help

This is a great extension because is simple, web extensions ready and works on text area.
What is the way for set the translation language to AUTO DETECT?
The selection number words is very limited (only 150/5000) why?
In addition I suggest to add in context menu the option for translate the entire page if nothing is selected.
Thanks.

Can't save setting

Can't save setting, wants to switch from German to Danish

nothing happens when I press save

Limitation of 150 characters

Hello,
Is there a reason why there are only 150 characters of the selected text is used for the translation?
This makes the plugin less useful.

About this plugin is not accessible in mainland China

It can't be used in China because its address is the requested translate.google.com link. This link is blocked. You can only use the https://translate.google.cn/ link, static getGoogleTranslatorDomain() {
         Let offset = new Date().getTimezoneOffset();
         // Domain for China
         If (offset / 60 === -8) {
             Return "translate.google.cn";
             // Domain for rest of world
         } else {
             Return "translate.google.com";
         }
     } This method is flawed, accessing the link of com

New Ctrl + Shift + B shortcut is conflicting with other shortcuts

Ctrl + Shift + B to translate a text is conflicting with Firefox's "Library window (Bookmarks)" and so it currently doesn't translate any text if you use it.

My suggestion would be to do Ctrl + Shift + Y/F/Q/Z as these are easy to reach, or if you really don't want anything to conflict with it.. do Ctrl + Shift + (number) as there's nothing in Firefox currently using these exact combinations of keys for a shortcut

Wrong domain selection

I live in Singapore. I have the same timezone as China. I'm not a Chinese neither I speak Chinese. But add-on sends me to a Chinese interface version of Google.Translate.

Current automatic domain location is very simplistic. It shows Chinese Google interface to all the people in the timezone of China. This timezone includes many other countries like Russia, Mongolia, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Australia.

Please make domain selection an option in settings instead of current auto-detection.

Separate string for context menu entry

Could you please add a separate string in the localization files for the context menu entry, so it's localized properly and fits the rest of Firefox.

Encoded spaces (%20) not properly decoded back to spaces anymore

Started happening March 13th, 2019.

Me quiero suscribir pero no veo el campo para el teléfono móvil y poder recibir el SMS que me pide

becomes in google translate:

Me%20quiero%20suscribir%20pero%20no%20veo%20el%20campo%20para%20el%20tel%C3%A9fono%20m%C3%B3vil%20y%20poder%20recibir%20el%20SMS%20que%20me%20pide

Happening in FF 65.0.1, OSX 10.14.3.

New permissions?

Firefox is prompting me to confirm new permissions in the latest update, which seem a lot more broadly-reaching than previously:

Is this intended, or has the plugin been compromised by a third party?

Pop-up window title is not replaced with the intended title in Firefox

Hello. As the issue title says the pop-up window title stays the default "MSG_extensionName" in the Firefox browser. I suppose it's not intentional. I did have a little chance to take a look at the source code and in the "src/config.js" file at the line 81, the "getLanguages" method is trying to get the default languages from the Chrome Runtime API. I suppose it's causing the bug because chrome namespace is not available in the Firefox.

Here is the locale information that I gathered from the console;
navigator.browserLanguage: undefined
navigator.language: en-US
navigator.userAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:69.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/69.0

I might be wrong, because I've not thoroughly inspected the code, but from what I can understand, this could be the cause.

Hope it helps.

Missing license text?

It says in a couple of places 'New BSD', but could you add the text of the license somewhere to make clear? Thank you.

MSG_extensionName instead addon name

Instead addon name is shown "MSG_extensionName". Windows 10 / Fedora 31, Firefox 70 (browser language - English (US), preferred language - English (US)), addon version 4.0.0.

Support PDF.

Extension don't open modal window while translating selected text in PDF.

Translations are injected into every iframe in the webpage

To Google Translate version: 4.0.2
Firefox version: 70.0 (64-bit)

After I selected a piece of text and clicked translate in the context menu, To Google Translate popup appears in the center but as you can see in the attached screen capture, every other iframe also displays the same popup.

Here's the link: https://www.computerbase.de/2019-11/u-bahn-berlin-lte-empfang-telekom-vodafone/

You can see the other iframes above and on the right side of the main popup.

Are keyboard shortcuts fixed?

Hello. I am using to-google-translate for some time now and I like it a lot. Recently though I've found out that it has shadowed CTRL+SHIFT+V which I use extensively with clipboard manager.

Is there any way to change keyboard shortcuts? To be honest I use the extension from time to time only and would like it the best without using keyboard at all.

Cannot input "yue-Hant-HK" into "Text to Speech" box

Cantonese (Hong Kong spoken Chinese) is one of the supported text-to-speech languages by Google. Its language code is "yue-Hant-HK". However the "Text to Speech" box doesn't allow me to input "yue-Hant-HK" into the box in the settings.

Compatibility with Mozilla Thunderbird

Hi

Is partial compatibility feasible?

Version 4.0.6 can be added to Thunderbird 68.3.0 (64-bit). Preferences appear in Add-ons Manager, not all of which I expect to work, but the most desirable feature seems to not work:

  • translation of selected text (within an e-mail)

No options at all.

Well, I clicked "options" and got nothing behind it. So I can't use it. Installed from addons.mozilla.org

Pop-up translation not loading...

When i right click>translate a word, pop up window opens but the loading circle just spins indefinitely. If i click to maximize the same window, then the google translate site opens and it translates the word immediately. What gives?

(This is what i get..)
