vagrant-zfs-on-linux's Introduction

Set up a LUKS+ZFS RAID-1+0 storage, and simulate failure and replacement

This is an automated environment to set up LUKS + ZFS RAID-1+0 tank. Once that's configured you can then simulate a failure.

For this to work it's neccessary to use the jessie-backports 4.9 kernel or stretch.

Usage

  1. Update boostrap/config to meet your needs, using bootstrap/config.sample as a basis.

  2. Install dependencies

host $ vagrant plugin install vagrant-vbguest

  3. Bring up the instance

     host $ vagrant up

  4. Connect to the instance

     host $ vagrant ssh

  5. Initialize the system. This is interactive, so it's not auto provisioned.

     guest $ sudo /vagrant/booststrap/run

vagrant-zfs-on-linux's Issues

Just run BSD, like a regular person?

 Whatup jinn!
Been a while man. I was just building some IDS systems on BSD that needed high reliability on fs snapshots to 'catch the baddies' and it was a pleasure to work with rsync.net and zfs that you can boot from without FUSE and god... it felt like I was 20 again, having reign over opensolaris x4500 boxes.

Hope you're well, hit me up via a less obnoxious means of communication if you like ๐Ÿ‘
laters,
matt.
