Expected a JavaScript module script but the server responded with a MIME type of "video/webm"

I'll preface to say that I'm a typescript novice and it's possible I'm just making a rookie mistake but I'm having a hard time implementing this project. I'm trying to follow the README in an otherwise blank typescript boilerplate project and then run in a local dev server can't get it to run so thought I'd try reaching out.

Specifically, I'm seeing the following error in the browser console which seems to take issue with the import hammer_1 from "./hammer_1.webm"; lines in the sounds index.js file

hammer_1.webm:1 Failed to load module script: Expected a JavaScript module script but the server responded with a MIME type of "video/webm". Strict MIME type checking is enforced for module scripts per HTML spec.

Any idea on how to resolve this one? My googling couldn't dig up much.
