i get 'You can’t open the application “Helium.app” because it may be damaged or incomplete.'
from helium.
Can you reliably reproduce the issue? Try deleting the app, rebooting, installing any available OS X updates and then redownloading a fresh copy of the app.

@ialexryan: I've tried rebooting and re-installing the fresh download of the app. I've also tried the older 1.5.1 version. I'm not sure if there's any available OSX updates however I'll check this and get back to you.

After checking up on this it appears there are no available updates for OS X.

Weird! Your hardware looks pretty standard and everything...since this doesn't seem to be happening for anyone else, it must either be another piece of software installed on your system or something corrupted in your operating system.
Try deleting the app, rebooting, and logging in while holding down the Shift key. That will prevent any login items from opening. Then download and try to run the latest version of the app.
Or better yet, delete the app, enable the Guest account, reboot, log into the Guest account, then download and try to run the latest version of the app.

got build steps for the repo? maybe compiling locally will allow it to run and then i could possibly provide a binary for those having issues to see if it works.

There aren't really any steps. Should just be download, open the .xcodeproj file in Xcode, and compile/run.

;x right as i posted that i face palmed.

Haha no problem! It's not usually that simple. Curious to see if that fixes it. @JordanAdams this might be worth trying for you, too.

That's fascinating, it'll be interesting to see if the same solution works for the rest.

i can tell ya another fascinating thing... when i unzipped the release using my normal unzipper software when double clicking, the app is damaged. when i use unzip
in my terminal, i can open the app. i think it's the process of unzipping it that is damaging the binary.

Wow, that's bizarre, I'll definitely look into this! Thanks for investigating!

Seems that compiling it on my end worked perfectly

I can relate to the "unzip" issue. I am unzipping using The Unarchiver and the resulting .app file is reported as damaged or corrupt by MacOSX 10.10 (Yosemite). I asked MacOSX to use the default built-in unzip utility (selectable via a right click) and it uncompressed just fine.

good to hear a similar issue! and i was specifically using The Unarchiver as well.
