Love the project! I would love to see the option to view a youtube in full screen (inside de app)
It would be nice to see the whole window by 100% (so that there is 0% transparency).
When trying to watch Netflix (running Yosemite), I encountered a Netflix error. Check out the screenshot below. Not sure what's going on here...
I'm getting a generic "Helium quit unexpectedly error" when attempting to start the app.
Maybe It would be possible to add a setting to change the DNS settings so country limited content could be viewed.
If user change the Opacity setting should trigger translucencyPress
function
and also change back to 100% Opacity, should didDisableTranslucency
This is not a real issue, I just wanted to say THANK YOU. I've been searching for an app like this one for few months now.
I'll be sure to fill a real issue if I have any bug with the app :)
Have a great day sir!
Perhaps consequently, Helium becomes incredibly unresponsive in this situation, and trying to interact with the video player will take several seconds to register.
When translucent and thus "inactive" of sorts, hide YouTubes controls for the video so its just a frame of video.
So attempting to play a video from YouTube that doesn't support external mode (anything from Vevo), one is presented with the following message
This video contains content from VEVO. It is restricted from playback on certain sites.
Watch on YouTube
Hi,
Will be great if you can also play local videos... something like file:///....
Thanks!
Great job!!
Hey Jaden! Great job with Helium. As we discussed on Twitter, I think it would be awesome if there was some way to queue URLs so you could have videos progress back-to-back. Cheers!
Clicking 90% translucency would imply that it would be mostly transparent, and "translucency" in this scenario is used as if it meant "opacity".
Anyone experiencing Youtube videos going into a infinite buffering mode after playing for like 10 secs or less?
It would be nice to have a dropdown to select from common device sizes and have the browser resize to the correct dimensions. I don't know that this is intended for web development at all, but I see some potential uses for it.
Would be great with a deep link scheme. something like helium:location:http://...
Is it possible to support OS X 10.9?
It would be nice to have an option to resize the page in percentage, so you can view the entire size in a small part of the screen.
Hi, awesome job on the app! I am trying to watch a live sports event through the Watch ESPN web application, but whenever I access the url through Helium, I am presented with a 'Blocked Plugin' screen. I have ensured that my flash plugin is up to date, but the problem still persists.
Hi,
First of all - thank you for Helium, it's really useful while coding and watching tutorial or conference in the same time.
It would be nice to implement some loading indicator while Helium loads new URL. Right now, after CMD+L and enter url, nothing happens and it looks like Helium doesn't work anymore :)
It's not a big issue of course, some nice-to-have rather than "killer feature" ;)
It seems that this app is not always honoring the fullscreen feature on some players. Here's one case: http://www.vice.com/en_se/video/vice-meets-nick-cave.
I have Silverlight installed and can use Netflix in both Safari and Chrome but in Helium I keep getting redirected to the "install Silverlight" page. What do I need to do to get it to recognize that Silverlight is installed?
Thanks!!
ETA running 10.10.2 Yosemite, updated to 10.10.3. Still the same issue. Hardware: Macbook Pro Retina, 3.0 GHz, i7
First, just wanted to say this app is fantastic! Thank you for creating it.
I was researching to see why Safari is able to go HTML5 video with Encrypted Media Extensions (EME), but Helium isn't — relegating us to installing Silverlight and Flash for Netflix and YouTube respectively.
It seems like there may be a way to make a UIWebView able to use EME. I found two resources, this Apple technote, and this blog article with example code.
The passage that makes me think this might be possible:
UIWebView does not provide any way for an app to customize its HTTPS server trust evaluations (r. 10131336) . You can work around this limitation using an NSURLProtocol subclass, as illustrated by Sample Code 'CustomHTTPProtocol'.
Thanks!
When I download and run the app I get an error saying the application requires OS X 10.10 or later. Is there a work around for this that would allow me to not update my operating system, but use the app?
Thanks.
Hi,
Will be great if you add shortcuts to control the opacity, maybe using the numbers.
Thanks!
It would be cool to have a favourite locations bar that we can add url's into. That would make it easier to navigate through videos and stuff since main function of this app is not navigation through web but watching / tracking static content.
The player loads up and the time starts in playback but no audio or video.
