About

Civilization Drafter is a web application that allows users to draft from a random set of civilizations for multiplayer play. It supports all Civilization VI leaders, up to the Leader Pass DLC, and is freely available under the GPLv3 license.

Deployment

The following assumes you have Git, Node.js, and Yarn installed.

Local Deployment

yarn install
npm run dev-server

Remote Deployment

This application is a static website and is thus ideal for deployment to Cloudflare, S3, and other hosts. Whatever provider you are using, make sure to run the following command to build the production version of the application:

npm run release-prod

Implement player-specific settings

Allow a variety of player-level settings:

• DLCs owned
• Player name

Dark theme

Have a dark theme, with the ability to switch between light and dark. Save settings in localStorage.

Allow "Duplicate Civilizations" and "Duplicate Leaders" as options for draft

Hi! I love this drafter, its the best one I've seen so far. I just used it for a game I'm starting up.

It appears that by default the drafter does not implicitly allow Duplicate Civilizations with different leaders when it draws the leaders for everyone. I would recommend allowing that as a an optional check box.

My group plays with duplicate civilizations allowed, but everyone plays a unique leader. So, supporting this in the draft would be ideal, as it's a possible game setting. Along the same lines, duplicate leaders are allowed as a game setting, so I would recommend implementing that at the same time.

I noticed this when trying to create a game with 10 players, where player 9 and 10 only had the two expansions, and the rest of us had all the DLC. (We have a banlist of 8 leaders that have won prior games) It gave me a warning that not enough options were available. I marked those players as having all the dlc, then noticed the final draft had no duplicate civs.

Old script version is cached and no longer exists with update

Today I tried to come back to the page to find it a loading spinner that stayed on the screen. Looking at the console I saw that the .js file failed to load. Deleting static file cache fixed the issue, and the new version of /assets/js/app-6b682681d8c5ff0f001f.js was retrieved.

Without dev tools users would have to delete their whole cache, deleting their saved settings. I am on firefox 121.
