Great!

Here is my experience, so others don't have to figure it out.

The app works by adding spaces to the overlay registry entry. And that, I think, changes how Windows sorts (prioritize) the icons.

Mores spaces (higher number) = top priority

I don't know how icon overlays work, but I think system overlays draw icons for all the files. Thus they should have the lowest priority. TortoiseGit, I believe, draws only for certain files. As a result, by making TortoiseGit overlay a higher priority I get both TortoiseGit and e.g. system symbolic link overlays drawn. Perfect.

Having that in mind, I moved the system overlays to lower priority and TortoiseGit and GoogleDrive to higher priority:

Sometimes the app closes itself when making changes, then try again until you are happy.

After making changes, restart the Explorer.

Now everything is pretty again.
