WAN side of pfsense?

Is it me or does this article not show set up of the WAN side of pfsense router?

problem with networking

amazing article! Im following along however im using an esxi host to handle the virtualization and i just cant seem to get internet on my DC. Ive created a vswitch attached it to the pfsense box. however when i go to set the static IP it does not connect. any advice?

"An Active Directory Domain Controller (AD DC) for the domain "example.com" could not be contacted."

in Details, we see that "The error was: 'DNS name does not exist'" but it certainly does.

There were a few things I changed from the instructions, namely the "host only" network to "Bridged" to be able to use the network between as many VM's as I need to, and the ability to use other computers on the network to interact with my VM's. I'm happy to share any details on my process, I just need some guidance as to what to share.

VirtualBox GUI has Changed - No Host-Only-Network tab

The "Host Only" tab does not exist in VirtualBox Preferences as directed in Part-1. I'm running the latest stable release: Version 5.2.2 r119230 (Qt5.6.2) which changed since this guide was created.

There are likely other changes to GUI that no longer match this guide.

DHCP not authorized

I am not sure whether this is a change introduced in subsequent versions of Windows Server 2012, but now for DHCP to become functional the DHCP server needs to be authorized through DHCP configuration tool (dhcpmgmt) which adds an extra step to the process of having a functional DHCP server.
