firmware's Issues

Source code availability?

I know this is probably outside of the scope of the initial release, and will likely need additional signoffs from the legal department, but is there any chance to eventually have the source code itself released?

There are a number of benefits of this both to the consumers and Jasco themselves:

  • Passionate customers can add features and fix issues themselves, and these improvements can make their way to official releases, this benefiting all users of the product
  • Potential customers that are passionate about open firmware (for reasons above) are more likely to pick Jasco products over competitors
  • More eyes on the code means that any potential security exploits can be found and patched much sooner

Thanks for everything that's been done so far, and hoping for even more openness in the future!

[Bug Report]: No direct/easy way to download firmware files (had to copy raw contents into file)

Bug Report Details

There is no easy/direct way to download the files. When I click on the file name it opens the file showing me the contents. If I right-click and pick "Save link as..." I get a file but it is actually the HTML of the page. I noticed the file I got was unusually large but never saw a Jasco firmware file before so did not think much of it. After tons of failed attempts I took a peek inside and saw it was HTML, not hex.

I went back to your files, opened one I needed, hit "Raw", copied the contents and saved it to a file with .hex extension. I uploaded that file and it worked but it is prone to making mistakes and causing devices to fail.

Can you make it easier to download the files?

Looking for firmware since this device seems to drop off the Z-Wave network regularly...

[Question]: Date Codes? (ZW4006/26931)

Can the latest firmware version 5.39 be installed on ZW4006/26931 (Enbrighten-GE In-Wall Smart Motion Switch) with older date codes prior to 1836 ?

I was unclear whether the date codes listed in the README files also represents a hardware change that would limit the firmware version to specific hardware revisions?

Just trying to avoid bricking any devices.

Thanks, Robert

Another suggestion enable GitHub Discussions on this repo, this will allow users to ask questions related to your firmware and products without cluttering the repos issues. [Bug Report]: Enbrighten/GE - ZW4002 - 55258 - 5.50

What brand is the bug report for?

55258

FW Version

5.50

Bug Report Details

Jasco manual for ZW4002/55258 calls out that the blue status LED will be illuminated in the dark to help you find the switch, but 55258 does not leave the LED on when the load is switched off, and there does not exist a configuration value to change the behavior.
image

This is reported here as well: https://community.smartthings.com/t/enbrighten-z-wave-plus-smart-fan-control-55258-led-status-light/239528

This is not a feature request, this should be considered a bug/defect as the manual calls it out as already being included and previous generations of ZW4002 worked as intended.

Further, I personally have 5 of these installed and all behave the same way. I had one replaced under warranty and the replacement exhibit the same behavior, so I am confident this is not a hardware issue, but a firmware bug.

How To Reproduce

Install a new Enbrighten ZW4002/55258.
Power on the circuit.
Find that the status LED remains off.
Turn the fan on, status LED flashes to indicate speed, then stops blinking, remaining off.
Turn the fan off, status LED remains off.
