Description

I crafted an immersive in-browser combat simulator game known as "Robot Gladiators." In this captivating game, players assume the role of a coach guiding their robot through a thrilling sequence of battles. Throughout the gameplay, participants accrue cash, bolster their robot's attack potency, and undertake vital repairs. The pinnacle of the game involves the preservation of a robot that secures the highest cash accumulation, etching their victory into the browser's storage system. The foundation of this creation rests upon the dynamic pairing of HTML and JavaScript technologies, delivering a seamless and captivating gaming experience.

Initial game functionality - MVP

Description

Must Have

  • Build a game where a players robot can fight another robot until one of them loses.

  • If the enemy-robot loses first, the player's robot will move on to fight another enemy-robot.

Features

  • The players robot's name can be dynamically created by the player through the browser.

  • The player is given the option to skip the fight by paying a penalty, or continue with the fight.

Add shop functionality

Description

  • After defeating an enemy, ask the player if they would like to purchase an item from a store.

  • The player can purchase health or attack points if they can afford it.

Restructure data with JS objects

Description

  • Create and use JavaScript objects to organize data related to the player and data related to the enemies.

  • Create object methods to perform player actions.

Add randomness to health and damage values

** Description**

  • Start enemies at a random health value between 40 and 60.

  • Start enemies with a random attack value between 10 and 14.

  • Attack damage is random, using the robots attack value as an upper limit (for example, the player's attack is 10, their damage range is 7-10).

Blank/null response handling for the player-name prompt

Expected Behavior

  • If the prompt for the player name is left blank or cancelled, anew prompt should request the player name.

Current Behavior

  • If prompt for player name is left blank or cancelled, a new prompt should re request the player name.
  • If the prompt for player is cancelled, null is stored as the player's name.

Possible Solution

  • Create function function getPlayerName() function that will loop until a valid response can be returned.
