Not able to pass DateTime parameter correctly.

I am trying to get tickets modified since last 3 days.
as supported by the api method 'ticket.getRecentChanges'

I get error
'ServiceException details : unsupported operand type(s) for -: 'unicode' and 'datetime.datetime''
