Index update can leave journal inconsistent

On slower systems, the index update speed may cause replay requests to receive stale data. This can been seen in the random failures in the Travis-CI build. This is only an issue when doing a delete/write that is immediately followed by a read. In more realistic conditions, the issue does not appear.

Potential fix is to do a consistency check against the stream before returning events and maybe evict events from the initial stage once the index is updated.
