liberator12k's Issues

Latching Charging Handle

The charging handle should latch in the forward position so that it does not flop around when not in use.

It'd also be nice if the handle folded away when not in use, while maintaining ambidexterity.

Example folding charging handle:

Docs Feedback - Mr. Snow Makes

  • Printed Receiver instead of Frame_Receiver
  • Missing Foregrip.stl
  • Add link to assembly STLs.
  • Stock pin retaining pin section is unclear.
  • Add note about notching pin
  • Trigger docs outdated, references "glued sides"
  • Firing pin could use some pictures and fleshed out details
  • A vitamin reference in the instruction line would be nice instead of having to flip back to reference sheet.
  • Or on vitamin sheet make a box to place the part on the paper as a priming area!
  • Even the vitamin descriptions don't precisely match the kit... like sear spring in kit seems to be 40mm long instead of listed 35mm?
  • When reaming holes in plastic with drill bit I run the drill in reverse. I don't want drill cutting overaized
  • Had installed the disconnector.
  • Chamfered the FP tip with OD chamfer bit
  • Add links to Liberator12k Library videos.
  • Add OpenSCAD tour video
  • Indicate nail head against buttpad for rear pin retention
  • Recommend adhesive for firing pin nail
  • Clearer pictures of firing pin assembly/FCG_Housing
  • Indicate use of washers in instructions for clarity
  • Discuss pic rail options.
  • Is there a printable picatinny sight rail?

Frame.scad unable to render

Throws error:
CGAL error in CGAL_Nef_polyhedron3(): CGAL ERROR: assertion violation!
Expr: e_below != SHalfedge_handle()
File: /usr/include/CGAL/Nef_3/SNC_FM_decorator.h
Line: 427

Attempted to fix as a thank you but no dice.

Replace tiers with "Difficulty Ratings" and "Tools Required"

Tiers have always been fairly arbitrary, and a rough guide for what I'm trying to do.

As release approaches, it'd be more useful to see what tools are required and the expected level of skill on a rating scale. Admittedly, the scale will be somewhat arbitrary, but here's what I've got in mind. All of these assume 3DP is a given.

  1. User has no mechanical skill. This is where Ikea starts.

  2. Has experience drilling holes with a power drill, buying their own nails and screws for a project. Can successfully mount a large heavy mirror on the wall 90% of the time.

  3. User has moderate to extensive experience with DIY projects. Has probably run a table saw, bandsaw, jigsaw, drill press, and similar "shop tools". May have welding experience.

  4. User is has completed their own welding projects, nothing amazing, but functional and reasonably safe. May have plasma or TIG experience.

  5. User has done some manual milling, turning, or can make pretty much make 5. User has experience with CNC machines beyond printers. Router, plasma table, mill, lathe, etc.

As far as tools required, it'd be nice to have some Unlicensed SVGs of the tools in outline/silhouette as icons.

Now that I think about it, maybe each tool should have its own experience level...

Chamber Calculator - Sync with SAAMI

The cartridge pressure data and chamber details have been added to the calculator in a very ad-hoc manner up until now.

What other cartridges should be added to the spreadsheet? I don't see the need for everything

Update pressures, make sure they're all the same units.

SAAMI Specs Section 4 –Definitive Proof Loads:

Rimfire
Shotshell
Centerfire

Shopping List / Bill of Materials

I need to get a nice BOM together, but this is a start... it is incomplete.

Frame

2pcs 10x1/2"-13 Hex Bolts (Grade 2 is fine)
2pcs 1/2"-13 Hex Nuts
2pcs 1 1/2x1/4"-20 Flat head bolt
2pcs 1/4"-20 Heatset Nuts (or hex nuts)

Barrel

3/4" Sch40 gas pipe, at least 2' for a break-action. Comes in a range of lengths in the plumbing section of your local hardware store.

In a pinch, 1/2" threaded rod and nuts to match.

Lower

1/4" square rod (Buy a 3' stick... or longer)
5/16" square rod

Update printable cartridges to use the customizer.

Hey,
I can't get the Cartridges to render. Cartridge_12GA and Cartridge_22LR all give the error

Rendering Polygon Mesh using CGAL...
UI-WARNING: No top level geometry to render
when rendering. Cartridge.scad is located in the same folder, but to make sure I contacted the files - the same result.

Other files seem to render fine (tested the AR-15 Trigger)

What am I missing?
