Encouraging periodic iTunes pinging is counter-productive

You have a podcast platform, all tightly integrated and django-y. If any system is in a good position to know the very moment a new episode of a podcast is posted, it's going to be the one hosting the podcast.

Why, then, does your README encourage the blind periodic spamming of iTunes' pingPodcast API when you could achieve infinitely faster user-facing results with much less overhead by calling some function to do the same when a new episode is added?

uploading file in admin: unbound method get_valid_name() must be called with FileSystemStorage...

When trying to upload a file in the admin I get this error:

unbound method get_valid_name() must be called with FileSystemStorage instance as first argument (got unicode instance instead)

any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

PODCAST_STORAGE Option Bug

I swapped the podcast storage engine for CloudFilesStorage and Django (1.3.1) complained about a class being passed instead of an instance.

Line 9 in models.py should instantiate the returned storage class.

PODCAST_STORAGE = get_storage_class(getattr(settings, 'PODCAST_STORAGE', None))()
