Yes, what you are describing is how … works in Ruby. It makes it so that STDOUT of the called process is not written to the terminal as usual, but instead bundled up into a String returned from the … call. If you want to capture it and print it, you will need to add that step.
Also, just for the record, this has nothing to do with HighLine. This is just how Ruby works with streams.
