thinRoot is a buildroot (https://buildroot.org/) powered operating system environment to create lightweight user-defined kiosk systems as ThinClients (e.g. using intel NUC, RaspberryPi, ASUS Tinkerboard, etc.) to smoothly connect to server-based desktop environments using ThinLinc, RDP (xfreerdp/remmina), VNC, etc. or to create a simply web-kiosk systems displaying a webpage fullscreen.

thinroot's Issues

RDP Session Configuration

Hi,

I just came across this project. I hesitated a while before creating this post. But more I read, more I'm interrested to contribute some steps for people in a same situation. First, I have no buildroot experience but was contributing to Thinstation2.x long time ago. I think this is a better approach since the project is based upon a supported platform.

The Thinlinc Configurtation [https://github.com//issues/1] Issue Post was of great help to understand the inner working. Mainly the tftp configuration. The main page still refer to a bzImage in a tar.bz2 which was confusing. Only the .img in the release folder (if you build you image) or the one that are release here on github.

Obviously, I needed to create my own with the right timezone and locale.

Can you give a example of your SESSION_RDP_0 paramaters that could be put inside thinroot.conf.network inide $TFTROOT/thinroot/conf folder. Not too sure where is this folder path specified.

Hopefully I can contribute my experience on this build environment, configuration, deployment of this project.

Regards,

Martin

Build for Raspberry Pi (3 & 4) fails

Hi,
I try to build for Raspberry Pi 4 (rpi4), but it fails with error:
Makefile.legacy:9: *** "You have legacy configuration in your .config! Please check your configuration.". Stop.
It does also for Raspberry Pi 3 (rpi3). I tried it on different systems (SLES12, 15, RHEL 7, 8).
For which make version this works (if it is version related)?
Regards,
Bruno

bzImage missing

Wanted to try thinRoot, following the README ... unfortunately it seems that bzImage is not part of the release. I have now started 'make dist' to see where this gets me.

ThinLinc Configuration

Hi

Thanks a lot for the cool project. Thinlinc client is running but I can't configure port number and other client settings.

is there a place where I can preset this in a thinlincrc file ....

found some infos in the script: S42LoadNetFiles . is there any documentation of the concept or some examples files ... In my case tftp server and config web server are not the same host...
