jstris-guide's Issues

Suggestion: combo counter

Hi, thanks for the amazing website. I would really like if a combo counter could be implemented. This would be really useful in multiplayer, especially for newer players who have trouble keeping track of it, and don't really know how all the combo/multiplayer/attack systems work. It's not explained very well in the Guide either. Thanks.

Suggestion: Add Classic Mode

I've been playing tetris on the NES for a while, and I like tetris on the NES. what's all this c%@¶? rising dead blocks? hard drop? It's unfortunate that tetris on the NES doesn't have multiplayer, so that's why I came here. A classic mode would be nice.

GitHub organization?

Hello @jezevec10 , I was wondering whether or not it is feasible for you to create jstris organization on GH, one upside I can think of is that both this and jstris-multilang could be added there and in case of some string changes you could ping people who are in that org as translators to get string updates faster and more reliably. Outside of this issue I am working on updated Polish translation and will publish updates soon.

[FR] Some links in the table of contents are broken

Original report:

found out that some of the anchor links on the guide page don’t work while using the french translation of the site ! More specifically, all links that are Under the FAQ list don’t scroll down to their intended parts of the page. I have not tested this out with any other languages except for English which works.

Suggestion: "Peaceful" multiplayer mode

I just saw another issue that started off with "Suggeston:" so I thought I'd try to add one since I can't find another option. But anyway, I play jstris with my coworkers and I think everyone likes the game but often there's an experience difference. So it can be overwhelming when garbage is thrown to them at an insane rate, or when cheese games ends abruptly.

It would be awesome if there was a "peaceful" mode where everyone can play at their own pace, and then maybe after a time limit you can tally up scores and other stats to boast or whatever, rather than ending the game prematurely for other people that haven't played as much.

Anyone know how to fix this visual bug on mobile?

Screenshot_20240404-171901.png

All my controls show the rotate 180 texture it's a little frustrating because now I have to constantly play in a forced hard mode where I need to memorize button positions xD any help is appreciated. I already tried refreshing the page and turning mobile controls off and back on. I might try to clear cache in a sec so if it works I'll edit this

Edit: android version 12 GO edition. Just in case anyone actually reads this

No Audio in Firefox

Wanted to enable sounds, and I could not make it work.

After a lot of troubleshooting and error searching, including reinstalling firefox, rebooting, clearing browser data\caches etc, the only thing I can find is this in the console

Other applications produce sound in Firefox such as youtube etc.

Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: The given encoding is not supported.
unknown error decodeAudioData.

Open source Jstris web app?

It would be great to be able to contribute issues and PRs..

For example: The layout is not great when I position the browser window on half my screen (the other half for watching netflix or something), making the browser viewport roughly equal in width & height. There's a some empty space on the left, and the content extends outside the viewport to the right.

Suggestion: 4-wide protection sends no lines

Currently, using 4-wides combos sends lines to oneself. This works to stop people from using 4-wides, but also sometimes catches players not intentionally doing a 4-wide, such as when panic downstacking certain t-spin setups. If 4-wide protection was changed to just send no lines, it would continue to make intentional 4-wides useless while not punishing players who do it unintentionally.

Suggestion: Add support for multiple key bindings

On my home pc, I am used to playing with WASD + numpad, but on my work laptop, there is no numpad. I don't like changing the controls every time I switch pc. It would be very helpful to support multiple keys per control.

API to get play data

I see there are stats being recorded about your gameplay. Is it possible to get access to personal stats.

If not my feature request would be to access the information via REST API, GraphQL, or during play via a webhook where stats are sent after each drop.

My goal is to gather information at a level that most people won't care about. This is 100% for research and to present on as a demo of how to stream interesting data and learn from your games.
