clippings-pluck's Issues

CSV parsing should not fail if the user doesn't open the file in Excel

Currently we separate meta data from clippings by splitting on this pattern:
AMZN_DIVIDER = "----------------------------------------------\t\t\t\r\t\t\t\r"

That pattern only exists if the user opens the csv file in excel and saves. Otherwise, I believe it is just ----------------------------------------------.

To do:

  • First check for the excel pattern, if the text doesn't split into two, fall back to the normal one
  • Add a test file that captures the state of the file as it is sent from Amazon. Get tests to green

TxtParser needs smarter note attachment

Need smart note attaching for the TxtParser. There are several issues currently:

  • Notes added to a previous highlight aren't added after that highlight. Instead amazon attaches annotations in the order they are made (location independent). The parser needs to be smart enough to attach itself to the correct highlight. Right now, it is just attaching to the last highlight parsed.

  • If you note a highlight once, and then note it later, there may be multiple notes per highlight. The parser needs to be smart enough to append a note if one already exists for the located highlight.
