Storyboarding and Art Direction/Concept Art

Before we proceed with making many new art assets we should establish a simple narrative, setting and art direction for our game. This will help us make later design decisions

fix dash

Need to smooth out dash attack movement

Attack Improvements

  • Create new animation with increased hitbox & range.
  • stop or slow the character from sliding during animation.

Add wall jump

Should be implemented after dash so we don't mess up the movement script

Finalize player movement

Finalize run speed, dash distance, jump height, slide speed, etc..

All values are serialized fields and can be changed through the player run data prefab.

Can't do level design until this is complete.

Finish melee attack #1

  • attack is somewhat implemented when we press "e"

  • may want to change animation

  • Create new animation with increased hitbox & range.

  • stop or slow the character from sliding during animation.

Create more companion animations

  • take damage
  • give companion more personality (e.g., spin around or smth or do a flip)
  • maybe create an idle animation to seperate from the moving?

Figure out general game mechanics

  • develop level up system
  • figure out how much hp, stamina player has
  • design collectables (coins, strawberries, mini mushrooms, etc...)

Improve attacks

  • Add feedback when attacks hit (e.g., enemy blood, knockback, damage counter etc...)
  • Fix attack range
  • Fix point of impact (enemy should only receive damage when hit by the tip of the spear)
  • Add cooldown for attacks (so we can't spam light and heavy attacks)

Wall Slide Fixes & Mechanics

Character can climb up wall if it jumps into the wall and holds forwards. slide direction is also inconsistent, sometimes moves faster/slower and sometimes stays in place or slides up

Dash from Air

Currently cannot dash midair. this feature should be implemented/fixed
