Add a filechooser when choosing directory in settings

Just a possible suggestion.
This [https://github.com/iPaulPro/aFileChooser] could be added in the settings so that users can easily pick a directory to save uploaded files instead of typing it manually. :)

I like the app btw 👍

hang on network

start > use > stop and close app, after minutes i can't use my network. Deinstall resolve the problem. Test three times.

no dhcp offer

The piratebox access point is visible, I can connect the wifi on it but no DHCP offer is received from the android device.

One thing is when turning on the piratebox in the app I get an error like I sometimes get when the device is unresponsive (io wait I guess), and when I try wait it seems to carry on normally.

Launching the piratebox through the widget seems to go in a loop of on/off/on/off

Is there a way to get a debug log somewhere ?

Add to F-Droid

It would be handy to have this app distributed through F-Droid. Do you think that would be feasible?

Backup for "dnsmasq" could not be created

On some devices the following error message might occur even if the device is rooted:

Unsupported device!
-- Backup for "dnsmasq" could not be created

It is currently unclear why this message occurs. Please try the following workaround if you are facing this problem.

Workaround
Open adb shell or terminal emulator app :

$ su
# cd /system/bin
# mount -o rw,remount /system
# cp -pr dnsmasq dnsmasq.pb.backup
# mount -o ro,remount /system

Now check with the following command if the copying worked ok:

# ls -l /system/bin/dnsmasq*

The output should look something like this:

-rwxr-xr-x root     shell      105864 2013-07-30 05:55 dnsmasq
-rwxr-xr-x root     shell      105864 2013-07-30 05:55 dnsmasq.pb.backup

On next start of the PirateBox app the error should no longer appear.

Workaround Note
If you get the error message

Usage: mount [-r] [-w] [-o options] [-t type] device directory

you can try the following:

# mount | grep /system
/dev/block/platform/omap/omap_hsmmc.0/by-name/system /system ext4 ro,seclabel,relatime,user_xattr,barrier=1,data=ordered 0 0

The first part of the output is the device name, which is device specific.
Now you can try to call mount with that device:

# mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/platform/omap/omap_hsmmc.0/by-name/system /system

What is https://github.com/joschi70/AndroidPirateBox/blob/master/libs/paw-server.jar? Where does it come from? What does it do?

I'm very sad because a lot of people don't use and don't want to improve this app because this non-free library, that makes AndroidPirateBox "non-free"... Conversely the other your libraries and all the rest of your source code is free...

I think that a lot of people thinks that it's dangerous to grant root permissions to an application that does not allow to see what it does with its permissions...

Hangs on setting up networking

App starts, I press 'on' but won't continue past "setting up networking, please wait".

File upload and message posting broken on Android 2.3

I installed V0.4.8 on two different Atrix 4G's. The hotspot and landing page both work, but when you attempt to upload a file, it will display an "upload failed" message. Also, when trying to post a message, the message text disappears as if it were uploaded normally, but nothing actually gets displayed in the chat area.

Doesn't work with Android 5.0

When I start the application, a red message say to me " Unsupported device - command dnsmasq not found"
I think that is the version of android ( 5.0 ) who is the issue, because when I have android 4.4, the app work. I have a nexus 5.

AP doesn't start

So here is my issue, I start the app. And start the box. But it gets stuck on "setting up networking" and doesn't start the AP, and I manually have to start it.

Hotspot keeps turning on and off on Oneplus with CM12

Pirate box just keeps going on and off. Only way to stop it is to reboot the device.

MIT - License compatibility

Sorry me, but I have to say that PirateBoxScripts are copyrighted by Matthias Strubel and released under the terms of the GNU General Public License, so I think that AndroidPirateBox can't legally be released undergrading that license to the MIT license (X11 license)...

Reconfiguration of hotspot doesn't work under HTC Sense

The hotspot is activated but with it's preconfigured settings, not with the settings set in the PirateBox App istself. So connection to the PirateBox server is not possible.
The PirateBox server itself is running fine, as can be checked by using an on-device browser to connect to 192.168.43.1.

Tested on HTC Desire with 2.3.3 stock ROM

Using the new PirateBoxFileHandler breaks everything for me.

Not sure if issue or work in progress.
Using latest source, updating line 141 from content.zip/conf/handler.xml

will result in every page giving me a file not found.
All urls are still hijacked and pointing to pirate.box, but file not found.
I went back to 0.4.8 which is working for me.

Upload several files at the same time

This piratebox allows uploading only one file at the time. The current version of piratebox allows you to upload several files at the same time. Can this be updated?

Crash when max upload size > max int

If you set the maximum upload size to greater than 2³¹-1, the app crashes. I think its just best to make it a long (~9 million TB) rather than limit it to 2 GB.
