gmevents's Issues

Prague 2023 - redirection to Prague Blockchain Week

Hello!

This year, cryptocurrency events in early June will be listed and coordinated through the Prague Blockchain Week 2023 initiative. This will be a much more complex effort that will require a specific website, so gm.events unfortunately cannot be used.

Is it possible to put information about PBW23 on the website, or to redirect users from gm.events directly?

It uses the following domains and usernames:

Note: "gm.events" is a cool brand, and maybe we could introduce some subcategory of events within PBW and use that, what do you think? Thanks for the opinions, we are open to everything

#DeFi Summit - Prague

If you're submitting an event, please read the instructions below and fill in
the content. Otherwise just remove all the content of this issue and explain

synopsis:

  • The event has a limited capacity, please apply using the ticket link below. We will favor individuals who are relevant and can contribute to the discussions that will be held. This event will be filmed and live streamed. Program and schedule will be announced soon
  • The pace of progress in decentralized finance over the last year has been astounding. Globally-accessible, decentralized financial services went from thought experiments to real products you can use today, most currently with projects like Maker, Dharma and 0x. Still not convinced?
    • In the past 30 days, Loanscan has tracked 1618 loans issued on the Ethereum blockchain — that's 1618 people who were able to tap into a line of uncensorable digital credit from literally anywhere in the world.
    • Back in May 2017, stablecoins were a theoretical construct hardly seen in the wild. There are now not only live stablecoins, but a rapidly growing diversity of them (70!)— and they're working!
    • There are over 1.2 million NFTs listed on OpenSea — this asset class, mind you, hardly EXISTED before December of 2017.
  • Things are moving fast if you know where to look.

  • The #DeFi - Prague summit will be a day-long conference on the latest and most pressing issues in the decentralized finance. A chance to get together for a day as a movement, united by the same overarching vision, to look back on the past year and look forward on what's to come. The event will mix talks on the main stage with participatory breakout sessions and technical workshops led by key actors of the space.
  • Shared values of collaboration and openness are reasons why innovation is happening at such an astounding pace in decentralized finance. The DeFi movement upholds these values by bringing together individuals working on decentralized finance to discuss, collaborate and help each other. After our latest #DeFi Summit in San Francisco, we are looking forward to hosting you at our #DeFi Prague Summit on the 29th of October!

Venue Enquiry

Hey Josef

Due to our attendance far exceeding our expectations, we are considering changing venues to something more accommodating for 40+ people. We were thinking a brewery cellar or something private but spacious enough for everyone and cool. Do you have any ideas?

The original idea was to have the event in a casual environment like a cool brewery cellar/room to network but we are also assessing going the formal route (Presentations, Microphone + added amenities), would you know which venues would be suitable for this option too and what the cost would be out of interest?

Regards
Wayne

Refreshing the actual site.

An event was update on here, but the site doesn't seem to have updated. Is there something we can do to refresh it with the latest info?

Thanks!

synopsis:

As Prague Blockchain week quickly approaches and new workshops, meetups, and hackathons pop up each day, it is evident that the community has drastically grown since Devcon3 in Cancun just a year ago. Proof that Devcon, the annual Ethereum conference, brings together people from all disciplines and backgrounds who share a common belief in the decentralised web we are collectively building. A key figure in the push for this decentralized vision is the team behind the distributed storage platform and content distribution network – SWARM.
  • We are pleased to open up the Status Hackathon #CryptoLife venue, National House Smichov, to the SWARM team to host a mini-summit that will take place on Monday, the 29th of October. The day-long mini summit accommodates 12 talks and a hands-on workshop and is open to the public.
  • The Swarm mini-summit will be held in conjunction with EthMagicians’ Council of Prague event. While these two events are entirely separate with different focus, it will be of our great pleasure to host these bright minds under the same roof in joint efforts to work together on the challenges that hinder widespread web3 adoption. Both the SWARM team and EthMagicians will have dedicated spaces within the National House Smichov.

The launch of Future Cryptoeconomics - a quarterly publication that examines the global

cryptoeconomic condition and its effects on culture and society.

Future Cryptoeconomics are debated and tested in almost real-time, and we have a long way to go

in order to achieve ‘cryptoeconomic literacy’ and global adoption of cryptocurrency. Could anxiety
foster mass adoption of cryptocurrencies? The transparency vs. privacy debate, or the shortcomings
of fiat, banks and large financial institutions? The first issue seeks not to find answers to
speculations, but to identify the questions that are foundational for envisioning next societies.

Andrew Newman from RIAT and Ozan Polat from Dezentrum discuss the first issue of 'Future
Cryptoeconomics that contains contributions from and interviews with: Matthias Tarasiewicz, Andreas
Antonopoulos, Jaya Klara Brekke, Josh Stark, Shintaro Miyazaki, Vitalik Buterin, Ozan Polat, Benedikt
Schuppli & Jan Hubik.

The Protea team warmly invites all Ethereum Meetup Organisers to our
  get together during DevCon4.
  • The Ethereum community is growing rapidly, already having surpassed
over 1 Million global meetup.com community members. Without this
community and those that drive it’s growth, Ethereum would not be
where it is today. We want to bring together all those who will be in town
that play an active part in building the Ethereum community.
  • The aim of this meetup is to provide an open platform for organisers
to share ideas, ask questions, talk about the Ethereum community
and network within the industry in a fun and engaging environment.
Essentially, connecting Ethereum meetup organisers who are
    attending DevCon4.
  • Looking forward to seeing you all there! If you have any questions,

Improve event submission experience

Honestly, it is quite a pain to submit a new event in the current form. Here is some feedback about it:

  • there are no instructions on how to add event
    • the Wiki page linked in the root README.md is not working
  • it would be good to have a structure that would not require locally cloning the repo
    • GitHub allows editing files directly in the UI or allows creating new files in a folder, but does not allow (to my knowledge) creating folders, which prevents using the UI to submit new events in the current form
  • for issues you could use the issue forms, there could be even Github Workflow that would automatically create PR from this submitted issue with the created file. The form looks like this:

Slight update of content/Edit text on Event page

Request for making a small update of content

Our event is "iExec Summit and Party

On the page: [https://pragueblockchainweek.cz/events/]

Would it be possible to update the text under our event to read:

The iExec team invite you to join us for a whole afternoon and evening of free blockchain and tech themed workshops, talks, discussions; food, drink and parties!

  • I noticed it has been updated once you click on the event but we would like this to be the catchy tag line to be seen at first glance on the page of all events.

Many thanks in advance! The site is a great resource.
