Horizontal scribbles disappear

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Select the scribble tool
2. Draw a line that is perfectly horizontal, no deviation
3. Gape in wonder

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output would be a horizontal line, instead as soon as you release the
tool the line
disappears.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
FormulatePro 0.0.3
OS X 10.5.1

Please provide any additional information below.
The selection tool doesn't seem to be able to drag and select multiple items so
I couldn't tell if
the line was there and not displayed or not there at all.

Display magnification level

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Version 0.0.3 under OS X 10.4.11

It would be helpful to see the current magnification level (perhaps in a
status bar or in the floating tool panel).

Need quick way to access tools

Mechcozmo suggested that the text-entry tool be easy to access from the
keyboard, perhaps by pressing command-T. One technique used by many
graphics programs is to use letters w/o the command key. For example, in
Photoshop the marquee can be accessed by pressing 'm'. I think something
like this would work great. perhaps 't' for text, 'r' for rectangle, etc.

Auto-reducing text input field

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open existing pdf
2. Activate Text tool
3. Start typing
4. As you type, the text box decreases in size from right to left eventually
preventing viewing of the
typed text. The text is still there and you can resize the box, but as you
type the text box
decreases in size.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I am using version 0.0.3 on OS X v10.4.10.

Please provide any additional information below.

Initial Opening of a PDF should show the entire thing

When you first open up a PDF, instead of giving you a nice view of the entire
page (look at Preview
for an example) FormulatePro just defaults to a standard window size. It
should show the first
page, at least, so that the user may start working without having to adjust
their window.

This has to be done within reason, of course; opening up a poster-sized PDF
shouldn't cause a
poster-sized window to spawn, but I think a standard page is reasonable enough
to be shown in its
entirety.

Fix text tool

text tool isn't quite finished. it should have no outline (or optional
outline), and it should be easy to move it while editing it (perhaps by
holding command-option and dragging)

Autoscrolling when dragging object out of sight

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Zoom in so that a part of the pdf is outside of the visible part of the
window
2. select an object and drag it to the invisible part of the window (for
instance a signature on the
bottom of the page)
3. the page does not scroo

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
the page is supposed to scroll while you drag the object to the side of the
window

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Version 0.0.3 under Mac OS X 10.5 (9A581) on a MBP 2.4 GHz

Please provide any additional information below.

I really apreciate very much this very convenient program. I hope I can help in
translation in
French when needed.

Non-printing annotations

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Version 0.0.3 under OS X 10.4.11

Please provide any additional information below.

I'd like to see a new class of overlays that display but do not print. This
could be used to mark areas of a form where there is an unresolved
question. This could be implemented as text, a box, or a shaded region (one
of these would suffice). Ideally, annotations would use a color other than
black to help distinguish them from standard printable elements.

Should open on landscape axis if original document is landscape

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open an existing file which is saved in landscape

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

See the file displayed in full on landscape. Instead I see the file in
portrait, displaying only the top two-thirds of the left half of the
document content in the bottom half of the formulatepro document area.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

0.0.3, OSX 10.4.10

Please provide any additional information below.

Tried setting page setup to landscape, but this made no difference. Nothing
I can do (it seems) to display the full image content.

font selection does not stick (always goes back to size 12)

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. in text entering mode, every time a new text enter is started the font size
goes back to 12

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

- need a way to make font selection stick (e.g., I'd like to fill out the
entire form with size 10 and
don't want to do font selection for each entry)
- would be nice to have a way to select multiple text entries and change their
font selection

More control over PDF view style

would be nice to be able to view PDFs two-up, or in book mode. or maybe one
page at a time instead of seeing all PDF pages in one big scrolled view.

Place Image Files Should be Highlighted after placement

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Insert file using File|Place image
2. After insertion, the image is not highlighted with boxes around edges of
image

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The image should be highlighted with boxes around the edge for
movement/resizing of the
placed image. Without the highlighting, images can disappear against the
background. For
example a white image used for whitening out text can disappear on the
background of a white
document.

Add Superscript and Subscript keyboard shortcuts

Just like in Pages, the keyboard shortcut "Control Command +" should make the
selected text
superscript and "Control Command -" should make the selected text subscript.

A workaround would be to use the Accessibility pane of System Preferences, but
I don't see why
these keyboard commands couldn't be used seeing as Apple has sort of given them
the unofficial
"OK" for use in their own apps. Just increases usability.

Can not open old fomulate documents

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Any attempt with formulatePro 0.0.4 to open an older document fails.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.0.4 on Mac OS 10.5.2 Intel

Please provide any additional information below.
I used Formulate 0.0.1 to fill in some forms that now need to be updated.
0.0.1 will not open (not compatible with Intel? 10.5?) and 0.0.4 works
fine but will not let me open those old forms, except as new PDF files that
I can fill in from scratch. It would be very useful to have a converter or
a way to open these older forms from the .plist that 0.0.1 would generate.

Thanks,

Should be a Zoom menu item

To choose from a few standard zoom levels; 12.5%, 25%, 50%, 100%, 125%, 150%,
200%, and 500%
are pretty common. Could also be incorporated into a preference, for initial
zoom level.
