despair-to-action's Issues

List of Actions

This issue is for literally anyone to work through: add any actions someone could take.

Decision tree thought:

Money vs Time

Help Individuals Directly (way to search gofundme pages for top-surgery/people in healthcare crises?) vs Help Organizations (ALCU, SPLC, etc)
Money Split: Stable Money (recurrent donations) vs Currently Have Money (single donations)

Time
How much time do you have?
30 minutes (send letter to congressperson, make phone call, etc)
1 hour
On-going available time?

Skilled projects that need help (list of civic-minded github projects/orgs like Code for America) vs Canvassing vs Phone banking vs...

What is this project?

I'm going to build a web app to help people decide what they can do right now. Essentially, it's going to be a decision tree, and each leaf of the tree will be an action that someone can take...with a direct link to the information they need to do that. It'll be sensitive to their resources: do you have money or time to give right now?

We can use this thread to sort through requirements about what's needed to make this possible.

Accountability

How do we help people be accountable for what they say they're going to do in meatspace? As much as possible, I'd like to point people to things they can do from their computer and finish it shortly after, but some things (e.g., joining a github civic action project) have a larger time commitment. Accountability is a big piece of this for folks.

This could be a later feature, but if others are interested, we should make sure our first design allows for this to be added later.

Model the decision tree data

How do we want to store the decision tree data? What makes the most sense and is the most flexible, to allow people to contribute more ideas in the future?
