Critique of Protocol Document (as Checklist)

  • Needs description of how the clients get the encryption key and the client table
  • We need to assume that all clients already have the encryption key
    • This assumption needs to be added to the document
  • Should have version byte (or bytes) in each message
  • Each message should contain sender's user name and receiver's name
  • Needs some description of how RC4 fits in
    • including set up cycle
    • Recall:
      • you have to run the machine many times to get the internal state of the
        machine sufficiently chaotic (20,000X)
        • Decide how many times to run the machine
        • Decide on an initial value (random)
        • include that setup must be run ( or initialization ) before each message
  • Before wednesday, review and repair protocol
