Overview

The Qlik Sense Timeline Chart is a chart extension for the use in Qlik Sense Desktop or Server. It is versatile chart that allows you to depict how multiple artifacts, be they projects or resources, are active/used over time in relation to each other.

Examples:

  • You are managing a software project and want to illustrate who is doing what and when
  • You are organising a conference and need to schedule meeting rooms
  • You are running marketing campaigns and would like a scheduling overview

The Qlik Sense Timeline Chart leverages the Google Chart API.

Usage

Use 3 or 4 dimensions (no measures):

  • Dim 1 (required): Main dimension and row label
  • Dim 2 (optional): Bar label
  • Dim 3 (required): start date, format YYYY-MM-DD (ISO)
  • Dim 4 (required): end date, format YYYY-MM-DD (ISO)

You currently need to ensure that all start and end dates exist. Dates will need to be converted to YYYY-MM-DD as required by the Google Chart API.

Example configuration using three dimensions (without optional bar labels):

Custom settings:

Additional parameters can be set to change the appearance of the chart:

  • Show row labels: shows or hides the row labels in column 1
  • Group row labels: groups labels with the same name into a single row

Detail of timeline

Hello

This qlik extension seems very good to me, hence why I would like to work with it.
My problem though is that I want to make a gantt chart of different processes which are very detailed.

The frames of these processes should be measured in seconds.
I can't see a way at this moment to make that work in qlik with this extension, while I am able to make it work in JavaScript using the standard Google chartloader.

In the google chartloader I can just give a duration in milliseconds without having to give any specific dates which is perfect in my case.

Maybe this is an upgrade worth making, since the most detailed the timeline can go at the moment is days.

Kind regards
Troy

Help with a requirement!

Hi Kai,
I would like to know if you could assist me with an issue.
I am working with the extension "googtimeline" and I want to add one more day to the calculation of the difference between my starting date and my final date. For instance, if the calc is returning 2 days (12/14/2017 - 12/16/2017), I need it to return 3 days. To add more details, I'm attaching a picture where you can see where I request your aid in red.

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
timeline

Cannot import extension

I get an error when trying to import the extension (despite being able to successfully import other extensions from Qlik Branch). The error essentially says it cannot find the following file in C:/Windows/TEMP\d21c721f-aa2d-4034-bb29-d5cc6d654a11\qlik-sense-timeline\googtimeline\async.js'. (HTTP code: 500) ffd57f9c-69c9-465e-9812-106edb67e82c

Thoughts on how to get around this?

Limit on number of rows displayed

First of all, thanks for a great extension.

The issue that I have encountered is that there seem to be a limit on the number of rows that are displayed using the Qlik Sense Timeline Chart. I've looked in the code but I haven't been able to spot anything there.

Any suggestions?

modifications to the extension

Hi,

I know the extension is not being maintained any more, but I would like to know if anyone knew:
-How to give each value of the first dimension a different color
-How to limit the minutes intervals to :30 (minutes)
-When a date selection is made the chart filters to show just the dimension value where data is found, is there a way to show all the dimensions value even if there is no data for it?

Any help would be appreciated

Error when importing the extension

Hello, I get an error when importing the extension in Qlik Sense. The extension appears but when I drag it to the working area, it says invalid visualisation and I don't get access to editing the dimensions/measures...
Can anybody help me to know what am I missing or what I am doing wrong? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!
