acer-v5-573g-hackintosh's Issues

Trackpad driver with multitouch gestures

Hello. I recently bought one of these laptops - the one with the i7 and 750M graphics, and immediately got it hackintoshed.

I found a driver that works extremely well for our laptops, refer to this page: http://forum.osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/1948-elan-focaltech-and-synaptics-smart-touchpad-driver-mac-os-x/

It features multitouch gesture capabilities, including double-finger scroll, multifinger swipe and pinch, edge swipe, continuous scroll, and throws in keyboard remapping too, for producing that Mac effect of triggering F-key events without having to press the Fn button.

I'm extremely impressed by its functionality, though I am having a few issues with it, although the major one is that the trackpad and keyboard refuse to work if I make my laptop sleep, or if the screen turns off automatically, or if I close the lid without letting it sleep. Funnily enough, it keeps functioning if I switch off the screen using Fn+F6 (or simply F6) as I've configured it.

Also, I'd like to ask a couple questions to y'all about your experience with this laptop: do you have a problem with low audio as compared to Windows? Also, I can also report the issue Kaijun brought up earlier, in that sometimes it refuses to shut down and has to be shut down forcefully. I'm hoping there's a fix for it soon.

Anyway, enjoy the new gestures!

Edit: I should mention, my laptop came with the Elan trackpad. Your mileage may vary depending on the brand of trackpad your laptop came equipped with, although I think the stock VoodooPS2Controller works well with Synaptics pads.

Disable NVIDIA

can anyone help me to disable the nvidia graphics in the i7 branch?

Antipop

Hi
OS X puts internal sound card after some idle time to sleep. After powering it back on, a poping sound can be heard from speakers (especially with amp connected through line-out). Have You noticed it too? Did you manage to disable it?

From facing camera

Hello
@Kaijun , after installing Yours newest DSDT files I noticed that front facing camera stopped working. I though it was related with updating to Sierra, but now I'm back on El capitan and camera still doesn't work. Could You give me some hints what could be wrong?

Slow Boot + Slow wake-up from sleep

I'm getting really slow boot times (takes about 2 minutes to boot into mac os x) because it gets stuck at the line:
"IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 64:103" for about 1 minute. I've read on tonymac that it's something related to the DSDT i'm using? Do you know perhaps what vectors 64:103 means? Is it something to do with lines 64 to 103 in the DSDT?

Furthermore, when my computer goes to sleep (closing lid or pressing Fn+F4), it 1 minute before it gets onto the lock screen and it is very laggy. Do you perhaps have this issue?

High Sierra

Hi,
Thanks for sharing this. Do you have any idea if this will also work with High Sierra?

Thanks

Where to put these files

Dear Kaijun,

Thanks for making these files available. I am trying to install OSX on my Acer V5 573G (with core i7 processor but otherwise very similar to your configuration) but I don't manage. I have copied the files from GitHub to my Clover EFI boot partition on my USB stick, in what I think are the appropriate directories. When I try to start the OSX installer (with -v boot option only) it runs for a short while, showing about a screen full of information, but then reboots. Is this information logged somewhere? Its too quick to see where it fails...

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,
Jaron

Battery\AC Switch

Thank @Kaijun for his wonderful contribution to our V5 573 community!
I have successfully installed 10.9.5 on my i5-GT750M laptop. Everything looks OK...except one thing
The battery icon on the menu bar sometimes shows 100% with an AC plugin which is correct: Battery of V5 573G is non-removable.
But frequently, the battery icon shows 100% battery WITHOUT AC plugin even AC is connected. The battery indicator tells me it's calculating the remaining time. And after a short while, the AC plugin comes back.
This is not big deal as the system works smoothly. I guess it's caused by wrong installation\kext but I am not sure. So i raise a new issue entry as this problem is not mentioned in the issues list or guides from friends here.

Another issue here is that. This afternoon I got irritated by the battery indicator problem and decided to pull off the AC. Everything is good from there for the whole afternoon. But when i put back the AC power after 5 hours and battery was 7% then, the system starts to freeze and reboot automatically for several times for no good reasons.

For installation procedures
I followed issue #7 guide and used the files shared by @Majkwin.
My bios is 2.28. My installation USB is made from VMware using createusbmedia --no interaction
For post installation, I installed kexts using kextbeast and rebooted the machine as instructed.
I didn't perform a rebuild and permission fix as they are not mentioned.

Please guide me, Shall I perform a rebuild and fix permission using kext-utility or kext-wizzard?
Or this is not necessary, just like the issue #7 guide, instead I made a mistake in installation?

Thanks!

100% Battery

Hi Kaijun,

Do you perhaps know the solution so that the battery percentage actually shows the real %? Mine stays stuck at 100% and I don't know how to fix it!

Thanks,
WilsoXU

Shutdown in El capitan

anyone go the shutdown working?
coz mine is not. even if i shutdown the keyboard is still lit.
evoreboot.kext gives me kernel panic

Instructions

@Kaijun , at first I want to thank you for your work, and if you don't want this instruction on your page feel free to delete it.

There are propably some mistakes, but you'll get the main idea and you will succeed without any problems.
I've prepared roughly wrote instruction how to install OSX. I've uploaded most needed files on speedyshare, which contains newest clover with dsdt for 573G. I have model with i5 configuration. http://www.speedyshare.com/FBrT2/hackintosh.zip

While on Windows

Installation process is very simple, so I'll skip that.

On OSX

  • download clover and install it on your OSX partition using UEFI settings
    http://www.tonymacx86.com/mavericks-desktop-guides/125632-how-install-os-x-mavericks-using-clover.html
  • now you should be able to se EFI partition in Finder
  • enter EFI partition and again, replace Clover folder as earlier
  • restart, hit F2 and change booting method to UEFI
  • disable secure boot (you need to enable password protection to do that)
  • save and exit
  • hit F12 and chose USB stick
  • now in Clover find option „add clover to efi boot list“ – something like that (be sure you’re adding clover from your hard drive, not from USB)
  • restart
  • enter bios and set clover be first on boot list
  • plug out your usb stick, restart, and boot OSX (that will be your first boot from bootloader on your hard drive)

Now quick and simple

  • download KexBeast
  • put desired kext files on desktop (apple hda,hdaidt,realtek,ps2,acpi battery)
  • open KexBeast and install kexts
  • restart
    That’s all.

-------UPDATE

With 10.10.2 Apple stopped supporting HD4400 (our internal graphics card). See more here:

Graphic Artifacts Problem - Solution

If you guys met some kind of graphic artifacts problems at the menu bar,

then try something below:

Two Solutions:

  • download AppleIntelFramebufferAzul.kext.zip and replace the old one (back up it if possible). Notice it's only tested for 10.9.x
  • Change the Color Profile: Preference - Display - Color (try sRGB IEC profile)

however i don't have such kind of problem, so that i can't do some further research because i don't know if it works even if i make some progress... but i think it may be the problem with Framebuffer. you guys can try to modify a suitable Framebuffer and see if it works!

Audio problem

Hi!
I was forced to reinstall system and now I'm having problem with audio kext - I'm not able to enable audio output. I've installed all kexts and even changed in clover's Devices tab to inject Audio "0x03" device. What I'm doing wrong? This method was always working (sometimes after few tries), but now it isn't. Is there some new trick under 10.10.3?

To be clear - I'm using applehda and dummyhda kexts from @Kaijun repository here :)

Problems with sleep/ long boot times

How i can edit your DSDT?. I tried to uncompile it with iasl to edit the part of disable nVidia card, because my laptop only have Intel HD 4400 (Core i5 4200U). The problem was that MacIASL show me problems when i try to compile the DSDT.
How can i fix that?.
And i have a problem with my laptop, when i close the screen (sorry for my english, I speak spanish), my computer turn on the bulb led with the color orange (instad blue when it's turned on and working), and it takes a lot of time to get out of sleep.
Another problem was my SD card reader, do yo know how to enable it?

My specs:
Processor: Intel Core i5 4200U
RAM: Built in 4Gb RAM (Hynix) + Adata 8Gb DDR3L
Storage: SSD 240Gb SATA / SSD 256Gb m-Sata
Wifi: AR5B195 (Bluetooth and Wi-Fi working)
OS: OS X 10.11.6 15G31 (How can update to 10.12?)

Thanks for your support.

Audio Kext and Clover Settings under 10.9..5

Hi @Kaijun
I am still using 10.9.5 under bios version 2.29. Here is my problem,
I am using everything provided from you, clover, kext etc.
I installed AppleHDAIDT.kext and set clover as 0X001 and replaced
8408 ec10 -> 0000 0000
8508 ec10 -> 0000 0000
8419 d411 -> 8202 ec10
For this part, it has already been done in clover.
But rebuild and reboot, there is no sound...
I also tried 0x03 and there is still no luck

Can anyone please let me know how for bios 2.29 and 10.9.5?

Using 2 external screens

As soon as I'm trying to connect 2 external screen, OSX will boot but eventually crash with a kernel panic. The crash is quiet probably caused by the Azul driver.

I'm right now running BIOS 2.30 and 10.10. But also tried with BIOS 2.28 and 2.29 without any difference.

Anyone experiencing the same issue or even have a solution?

HD audio in 10.11

i have been using Voodoo audio with 10.11. and i noticed the sound is very low. Does anyone has any idea how to fix that.?

Yosemite compatibility

Hi
I'll be glad to hear some opinions from using Yosemite on 573G. Is there any additional issues comparing Mavericks? What about Continuity function? Is it working and is bluetooth needed?

I'm gonna try it after official release, but maybe someone has beta alredy?

Sleep/Shutdown Issue & Solution

_Issue Description_

The laptop can't shutdown/restart after running continually for a long time. (for example watching a 2-hours long movie which stops the laptop to sleep automatically)

and also when i set the "energy saver": display never turns off(and also never sleep), then after several hours, if i click the shutdown button, the laptop can't shut down.(normally it can)

what's stranger is that when i click the restart button, but the laptop shut down actually(but it seems to be not really same as the normal shutdown, it takes a little bit more time)...

and if the laptop runs for a several hours and go to sleep automatically, then it can't be woke up from the sleep state, yeah sleep to death...

_Solution_

Flash the Intel Management Engine Firmware in the Repo. Thank @savvamitrofanov for his solution commented in this issue #6 (comment)

It has been almost 2 years since we had this problem. Finally we made some progresses!

_Temporary Solution_

Force the laptop to sleep manually after the start of your laptop. After the power light turns orange, then wake the laptop up. After that, all the shutdown/sleep behaviours will be normal. The phenomenon as the description mentioned won't appear again.

10.12 compatibility

Hello guys!
I've installed 10.12 GM on my 573g with i5 and basically it's working in 95%. Known issues:

  1. No fully compatible keyboard and touchpad driver
    • FN keys doesn't work
    • touchpad settings in system preferences doesn't work
  2. Internal camera doesn't work

Beside that, I didn't notice any bugs yet...

473PG using your dsdt

My laptop V5-473PG using your dsdt , my spec i7-4500u gt750m hd4400 but I have some problem with sound card. my sound card is alc282 ,and I cant use it , no drivers =.= how can I contact u ? QQ?

Not an issue, but a suggestion.

        <key>ig-platform-id</key>
        <string>0x0a260006</string>

You have this piece of code in your Clover's config. That didn't work well on my V5-573g (i5-4200U, HD4400, FullHD display).
I've dug into some specs and found that i5-4200U's HD4400 has GT2 core (source), so the closest platform id is 0x0a16000c - Haswell ULT Mobile GT2 (source). That worked perfectly with 4k@30fps over HDMI with no graphics corruption and kernel panics.

You can add this info to your README if you like.

Oh and injecting ig-platform-id in SSDT didn't work at all.

Current state of compatibility

Hey,

I feel it would be easier for new users to understand the state of events if we could all know where we stand on compatibility with Yosemite, El Capitan and Sierra, and how to get things working in each case.

Also, if an updated installation guide needs to be written, I'm available to do so.

Wifi

Is there any possibility to enable wifi on this laptop under osx? Have you changed internal wifi card to do that?

El capitan compatibility

Hey guys
El capitan is slowly rolling out. Has someone tried installing it in ours 573g? Does everything work just as it did on Yosemite? How was your impression?

Sleep not working

Hello,
I am using your Clover config for my V5-573 (i5, GTX 850m, Bios 2.29). Almost everything is working fine but I have two small problems.

  1. I cannot go to sleep. When i press FN+F4 the display turns black and system seems to freeze. I have to power off the notebook to get it to work again. Closing the lid shows the same behavior.
  2. Boot takes extremely long. Same behavior as in Issue 17.

If I could at least get number 1 to work, OS X would be quite usable for me. Can someone maybe help me?

Touchpad sensitivity/speed?

I am finding the touchpad troublesome, especially tap-to-click, with right-click two-finger tap requiring a ridiculous amount of pressure.

Was wondering if BetterTouchTool would help with this??

The tracking speed seems a bit sluggish too...

PS. Using the V5-573 NON-G 4500u i7

10.10.2 screen tearing, no headphones output

I followed the guide to install 10.10.2 on my V573G (i5, 1920x1080) and most things work now besides:

  • There's screen tearing, sometimes very severe when logging in, using Chrome, Launchpad, during video playback, etc. I did apply Majkwin's FakePCIID trick.
  • Headphones output not working

Can you help me please?

Build images

Installing OSX on the 573G is easy. The much harder part is creating a bootable stick. If you don´t have a running OSX system, your only option is to set up a virtual machine. This is highly instable and can cost you days of trial and error full of kernel panics and frustration.
So I have an idea. Would it be possible to provide for every OSX version a preconfigured bootable installer stick for this laptop model? This could save really much time

Ethernet not working

I´ve installed 10.10 Yosemite on my Acer Aspire V5-573PG (Touch Version) and everything works fine except one thing... Ethernet is not working. Tried differend kexts but no matter what I try I only get "Self assigned IP"

Headphones now working!!

_I had no headphones with the AppleHDA solution... also no HDMI audio...

I installed VoodooHDA 2.8.9, and got both working. Sadly, VoodooHDASettingsLoader.app no longer works in Sierra with this version of VoodooHDA... so I need to make one trip to VoodooHDA prefpane to max out the PCM and IMix values (only two adjustable)._

Sorry about that, it was just an issue with port autosense... reinstalled AppleHDA + aDummyHDA kexts and it is now working fine, must have been some dirt/grit in port 🥇

ei caption install problem:osxAptioFixDrv

I have tried :
The solutions for this problem are well known. OsxAptioFixDrv2-64.efi vs. OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi (two versions 96mb/128mb [updated by me]). And disabling SIP config.plist/RtVariables/CrsActiveConfig=0x67.

Anyone has suffered this?

Unlock the BOIS!

Caution Ahead!

Holy fuck. Check
https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Acer-v5-573g-Advanced-menu
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hR-S34LgdL8

at the very beginning when i bought this laptop, i already had the idea how to unlock the advanced menu of the bios. But finally i gave up because Acer has kind of verification on the modified bios.

Today i just accidentally found this article which teach you how to unlock the bios without flashing it.

It did work! It seems that you can even overclock the cpu with the unlocked bios if you want 😄

Will Hackintosh also benefit?

Hmm, i just tried disabling the internal graphic and making the Geforce graphic card work, but hackintosh still ran with HD4400.
an article explains the reason: https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/archive/index.php?thread-20407-4.html

However, if i disable the auto switching feature of graphics and set the primary display to PCI express graphic / PCI, the internal display will keep off after starting... which means, i should open the back cover and plug off the battery as well as pull out the battery of BOIS to reset it back.

Ye, because it's muxless as the article describes.

But maybe using an external screen would probably work. So basically, two more things shoudl be done:

  • remove the _OFF method calling in DSDT
  • make sure the Geforce driver is ready and external screen plugged in before setting the primary display to PEG/PCI in bios.

currently i still don't know if it works and only did a little bit research and haven't gone that further. Need finishing my master thesis in the first place 😄 (expectedly on Tuesday).

how do you think?
Let me know if u guys find something new!

|HELP| Guide on Audio, Keyboard & Battery Fixing

Hey Kaijun,
I really appreciate the great work you did there. Im a bit of a noob, and i was wondering how exactly i am supposed to get Audio, Keyboard & Battery Stats working. In the readme, you're just writing something about voodoops2 etc, but I cant seem to get it working.
I'm looking forward to hear from you :D

Turbo Boost

Hi Kaijun,

Is this processor able tot run at full speed in OSX environment? Thanks in advance!

Turn off Touchscreen

Is there a way to turn of the touchscreen?
While working I use it a lot but I just can´t close my lid because it causes the Screen to spawn random inputs. This also wakes the device up when sleeping which is a bit annoying

10.13 Support

so guys what do you think, will our system support 10.13?

Nvidia 750m

Not able to boot after updating from 10.10.1 to 10.10.5 ?

I just installed Niresh Yosemite Zone 10.10.1 in my Acer aspire V5 573g and succeeded to start it. But when I update it to 10.10.5 from app store and after the installation process complete, It reboot and that's It. It not starting from boot screen. Please tell me how can I update it to 10.10.5 or suggest me any tutorial for that.

Preview.app of Yosemite: laggy/keep crashing [Solution]

If the following apps are not working smoothly/correctly: Preview, Photo Booth, iMessage Video Settings, Profile Picture Manipulation, Airmail 2, Pathfinder...

then you may try this patch, to enable QE/CI of Yosemite.

Run these 2 commands in terminal:

# Patch libCLVMIGILPlugin for HD4400 OpenCL / OpenGL
sudo perl -i.bak -pe 's|([\xFF\xFC\x3D])\x86\x80\x12\x04|$1\x86\x80\x16\x0A|sg' /System/Library/Frameworks/OpenCL.framework/Libraries/libCLVMIGILPlugin.dylib
sudo codesign -f -s - /System/Library/Frameworks/OpenCL.framework/Libraries/libCLVMIGILPlugin.dylib

The perl command will automatically create a backup under libCLVMIGILPlugin.dylib.bak
Note when patching make sure that you are booting with kext-dev-mode=1 to ensure unsigned kexts will load properly.

Blackscreen After booting with clover

I'm very new to this whole hackintosh thing, so this question might be very stupid.
I did all the things which @Majkwin mentioned in his installation guide (at least I think I did them right).
But when I boot enter clover an select my USB stick the screen turn dark and nothing happens.
I hope anyone can help me! I was really happy when I saw that there is a guide for my notebook!

PS: sorry for my bad English, I'm from Germany :D

Configuring clover

Hi
Ive installed mavericks via legacy boot (i failed configuring clover with uefi) and now ive got problems with dsdt and clover. I am installing clover for uefi on osx partition, then copying your files and im still getting error "error reading driver ... fake smc". Any help?

Enabling 4K through HDMI

Hello guys!
I'm struggling with enabling 4K 30Hz playback on ElCapitan through HDMI. I think I don't have to say that on W10 everything works just fine. Does someone use this resolution or know what to do to enable it?
