I'm Keshav Bhatt an independent, Open-source application developer from the northern region of India.

My main focus since introduced to FOSS is on developing applications targeting Linux Desktop Operating systems. I have been using FOSS since I was in 10th grade since year 2010, the first OS which attracted my focus toward application development was Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat.

Support custom filename pattern

I would like all screen recordings to have a well-defined name following a human-readable pattern, rather than an inscrutable hash. Ideally it would be user-configurable, but a better fixed default (e.g. Screen recording YYYY-MM-DD hh-mm-ss.gif, as is common with other screen recording tools) would be a good improvement already.

Not working after upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04

The gif is generated with a black background.

Recording fails with "Process exited with code 1"

There are no apparmor errors, I resolved all of those but I see this when I manually launch the desktop app

How do I read the source code?

Apologies, this is probably a very newbie question.

This repository says that is licensed under GPL 2.0. But I can't find the source code. It just appears to be a snap package for a binary copy of gifex binary, without providing the source code.

Not working after upgrade to Ubuntu 21.04 with Nvidia drivers

It worked fine right up until the upgrade to 21.04 and now when I start recording I get this error.

Cannot run gifex after installation

gifex: error while loading shared libraries: libQt5MultimediaWidgets.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Os : 5.15.0-50-generic #56-Ubuntu SMP Tue Sep 20 13:23:26 UTC 2022 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Error: "failed to activate bufferpool"

On Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.

Not working after switching to proprietary nvidia graphics driver

It was fine with nouveau driver, but after switching driver and restarting PC, gifex no longer works.

Switched to nvidia-driver-440-server (proprietary, tested) on Ubuntu 20.04 with a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti.

It doesn't work any more. Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"

It used to but this is what I get when running from a terminal:

All canberra packages are installed on my Manjaro, I suspect that module should be embedded in the snap.
When I try to capture this is shown:

Perfect but some problems.

I feel like the program is amazing, I have tried so many on Linux and none of them are good except this one but it should allow you to set it to 60 fps and use ffmpeg as it makes gif files a lot smaller, apart from that keep up the good work!
