transpile js in order to support older versions of tableau

Hi @henryw374, the browser used in 2019.3 does not support modern JavaScript (ES6) therefore you would need to downgrade the JavaScript for it to work. (ie: use var instead of let or const, no arrow functions, etc.)

According to your answer I believe it could be solved by using tools like Babel to transpile the js code. Do you know which version/browser those versions of tableau use? so I'll be able to configure Babel correctly and create a pull request.

basic authentication?

Hi Keshia,
Thank you for this connector.
Any chance you can build in a basic authentication (optional) into it?

Not finding much information on the following (related to the topic):
Will basic authentication credentials be saved for the refreshes? (using Tableau Online)
If not, perhaps a commented-out line where we could save the credentials would be possible?

Migrating to WDC 3.0

Hi,

It appears that WDC 2.0 is being deprecated. I was wondering if there is a way to migrate this project to version 3.0. Here is the official documentation on the matter:

Important: Tableau Web Data Connector 2.0 (this version) is being deprecated at Tableau 2023.1 and eventually retired. 
We will still support WDC 2.0 until its last compatible version of Tableau (Tableau 2022.4) goes End of Life and is no longer supported.

Your WDC seems much more efficient and it structures the data so nicely before it comes into Tableau. :)
