pomodairo's Issues

Date Fields in DB Not Updated

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. create a task
2. record pomodoros
3. mark task as done

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
In the db, there are created and closed fields for each pomodoro but they
are not inserted / updated.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.4 Windows xp SP3

Please provide any additional information below.
It would be extremely useful if these fields were filled in. I tried
adding a trigger in the db to do this but this doesn't seem to work.

Add visual alarm

I'm using pomodairo at work, and I can't use the alarm sound: I'm working
in an open space and my co-workers will be disturbed. I would like to have
a visual alarm, for example, blinking icon or blinking very large window.

Is it possible to do this with air technology ?

Option: configure which events get tweeted

There ought to be settings to configure the types of tweets that Pomodairo
sends out (e.g. enable/disable tweeting when timers start, stop, are
interrupted, tasks are marked done, etc...).

Format strings or templates for each type of message would be nice too.

Setting up the interface like this:
[x] Start Timer
Tweet: "%TIME% - is working on '%TASK% (%N/%M)'"

[ ] Stop Timer
Tweet: "is free"

[ ] Break Timer
Tweet: "is on a break"

[x] Task Marked Done
Tweet: "%TIME% - completed '%TASK% (%N/%M)'"

etc...

Feature request : Remember screen position

When I start pomodairo it is always positioned at the top-left of my
screen. I would like it to remember it's last position and re-appear there
at the next startup so I don't have to drag it there manually.

I use Pomodairo 1.3 on windows XP with latest updates and Air with latest
updates.

Missing pomodoro count

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start a pomodoro
2. Get all freaked out when the timer rings
3. Frenetically click on Stop Time to stop the noise

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect the pomodoro count to go up by one, but instead it remains not
updated since I managed to click on Stop Timer before the timer has rung
and the pomodoro has been added to the db.

We should change it so that the pomodoro count is updated when the clocked
reaches 00:00 directly. Or something similar =)

adjust the volume of the alarm

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. start your pomodoro with some kick ass tunes running through your headset
2. go slightly deaf as soon as the pomodoro finishes ;)

Pomodoros are marked as complete when stopping the timer

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Select an item in the task list
2. Start the timer
3. Stop the timer a few seconds afterwards

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect the pomodoro to be interrupted, but it gets counted towards
completed pomodoros. Since I want to keep track of actually completed
pomodoros, there's no way for me to leave the computer for a panic meeting
after one minute without getting the full 25 minutes counted as a success.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.4, Win XP

Break timer doesn't stop

After counting down from 25:00 and then counting up for the break timer,
hitting 'Start Timer' seems to add 25 minutes to the break timer and will
occasionally flash between a still counting up break timer (plus 25) and
the 25 counting down. Hitting 'End Timer' will show the break timer again
(plus 25) still counting up.

Using latest version 1.2 downloaded one hour ago.

Allow user to switch background and text colors

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open the application on a laptop with no-so-bright LCD screen

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
-> Be able to clearly view the task list, the buttons and any foreground
text.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
-> 1.7 on Windows XP

Please provide any additional information below.
-> Since I used this app a lot throughout the day, I would prefer a light
color background like gray or light blue.

I just now noted something interesting. All the gray text on the Pomodairo
app running on my laptop doesn't look as bright as the screenshots on the
Project Home page. Not sure if the difference is bcoz of different OSes.

Thanks for looking into my request.

Sound fades after starting Pomodoro

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Ensure sound is checked in the menu
2. Click start timer
3. Tick-tock sound starts but fades in about 10 seconds.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would expect the ticktock to last through the pomodoro.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.7, Ubuntu Karmic

Like others have stated, I think the ticking sound is essential to
maintaining focus throughout the pomodoro.

Feature Requests

Thank you very much for the app. It helps a lot.
Here are a few feature requests.

1. Timer for break. (Need a timer to know that it's time to go back to
work. It would be better if the length of the break can be adjusted as
well. Ex, 5 mins after each pomodoro, 15 mins after the 4th pomodoro.)

2. An option of the app jumping in front of screen when time is up instead
of a sound alarm. Personally, I would prefer this when working but a sound
alarm for break, so that I know when to come back to computer. But of
course this may make it a bit complicated than necessary.

Pomodairo window cannot be found anymore

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Set screen resolution to high (e.g. 1600 x 1200)
2. Move Pomodairo window to the far right of the screen
3. Close Pomodairo
4. Set screen resolution to low (e.g. 1024 x 768)
5. Start Pomodairo

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Pomodairo is started, but window cannot be accessed, unless

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Add new (second or more) item.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Posibility to set the "On Break" duration

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Work until you hear the ring
2. Take break
3. Realize you have been 40 min on break
4. Facepalm

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Ring at 5 min break

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.5, Windows 7

Please provide any additional information below.
The pomodoro technique advices 5 min breaks every 25 and a longer break
after 4 pomodoros.

It would be really nice if after a configurable short break time the timer
would restart itself (or have the option to). Also, being able to configure
the long break duration and the pomodoros between them would be excelent to
comply with the actual technique.

Better visual feedback for timeouts

Currently we have the auditory feedback of the timer. Then we have the
setFocus feedback, which in windows for instance marks the program yellow
in the taskbar.

Maybe we should have something more.

Bring to front seems bugged in AIR and does not work on Vista. Always on
top has the same problems. Maybe we could spawn a dialog or even a new
window which says timeout? Maybe let the timer when it reaches 00:00 blink
for a couple of seconds?

Support non-numerical issue hash-links

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Configure a bug tracker URL
2. Set up a task with a Jira-like issue #XX-1234
3. Clicking on the active task label doesn't actually open any URL.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would expect the bug tracker to be opened

Please provide any additional information below.
Works when simply using hash + number, but in my situation i frequently
need to reference various ticket "spaces", so a regexp like [A-Z0-9\-]
would solve my case.

Don't know about naming conventions in other tracking systems, when they're
more than just numerical.

No visual feedback when timer reaches zero

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start timer.
2. When timer reaches zero, a sound plays, but there is no visual feedback
to alert the user when pomodairo is hidden behind other windows or is
minimized.

Many developers or other business users do not have the ability to hear
sound output (not to mention the hearing impaired), or at least would not
want to interrupt others around them with such noise. A visual alert would
serve better in this scenario, for example, to move the window to the
forefront and/or make it flash in the task bar.

Otherwise, thanks for the handy tool! I hope we see it improve over time.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

pomodairo V1.0 on Windows XP SP3.

The air platform supports autoupdate. If you do that then I don't have to

BTW I can't see how to make this a feature request and not a defect.

Record 'Activity List' and 'Do Today' task separately (enhancement)

Be able to define whether a task was 'Do today' or on 'Activity List' and
be able to move task between these two categories. This would allow you to

Since sometimes having an audible alarm can be an issue (open space workspace

For example bringing the app on top, displaying a pop-up message/OSD message

New feature request: minimize to system tray

The summary says basically everything.

But you can always be creative and add some cool features like
 - digital assist: when mouse over the systray icon, show tool tip with the
time
 - analog assist: the icon could change colors every 5 minutes. Like from a
bright green when the timer is between 25 to 20 min. Changing colors as it
goes down.

 - Show/pop up the Pomodairo window when it's 10 seconds left

I hope it helps. I think it would be some cool features.

Good luck! Very good simple timer.

Todoist.com integration

Todoist.com integration would be very nice. I use it a lot for small and big
tasks but it's not so good for pomodoro technique because it lacks features
that pomodairo has.

I imagine it that way
1. in todoist.com i make project Pomodairo
2. inside of that project i make two subprojects: todo now, backlog
3. I add tasks to backlog and todo now.
4. Pomodairo gets tasks from todo now
5. I can move tasks from backlog to todo now (this is implemented in
todoist.com)

Feataure: alarm after 5min of pause time

When the pomodoro ends, a new counter starts, figures in green, counting
upwards for the pause time.

It would be nice if after 5 min a different alarm sound rings (a gentle
reminder to get back to work). It could even be a kind of "snooze", repeating
the alarm sound each 5 minutes.

Remember The Milk

RTM should be able to pulling task lists in from an RTM Atom feed.

A two-way integration where marking done, did the same on RTM would be a
great next step, but just having the lists would be useful in itself since
tasks can be marked complete through the RTM web interface.

Arrange tasks according to user priority

I would like to be able to arrange the order of the task.

Suppose I have this as the task for today:

A Write issue report
B Write manual section #2
C Fix issue #1

The task will be sorted as they are added. It would be nice if I could move
tasks up and down to get some sort of priority ordering.

Just two buttons would suffice, move task up and move task down. We would
probably need some sort of 'prio' field in the db. Using a linked list
approach has some serious drawbacks.

Always on Top feature I believe will be a useful addition to this app
especially when using it at work to keep track of time remaining. Well..
it's not really a good idea to keep looking at time! :)

For the time being, I found a bunch of Windows free utilities to help me
out like for example DeskPins.

http://download.cnet.com/DeskPins/3000-2072_4-52361.html

That said, it's a good to have feature for a Pomodoro application. I found
some documentation about AIR here:

Hope that helps,

This can in effect be simply done by adding

While the window title shows the changing timer, the reflection on the
taskbar doesn't change. It only gets updated when i minimize. I'm

According with the book, for some people the sound of the tictac is not

It would be nice to have a checkbox to allow enabling/disabling the tictac

Mini-mode or docking

Hi,

I have been using two pomodoro apps at the same time for the las week
(Pomodairo and Focus Booster) not that discomforting but I think the only
thing this app needs in order to be pretty much perfect (after seeing the
ticking sound was added) is a mini mode or the hability to dock.

Focus Booster has a very nice mini mode with a progress bar and it is nice
to have something this size (approx 1/6 of Pomodairo's size) when
programming; small enough not to disturb and big enough to drag around.

Perhaps if this app was dockable with hover-peeking it would be much nicer
to use without having to make a mini-mode, but I think it would be a good
development if the tab showed a little version of the timer.

Regards and thanks for the app once again
