When a song is changed, and the length of "<Artist Name - Song Title>" text in the menu bar varies, the window moves left/right. This means that if I wish to press the next arrow again, I have to move my cursor. This would be fixed if the drop-down window were tied to the right edge of the text in the menu bar instead of the center of the text.
Oh and maybe you could change the title of the widget into something like "Playing now on Spotify".
Now it is absolutely perfect :) Hahah :)
I really love how album cover art is displayed currently.
But I wonder, if you could add some styles for customisation.
For example rounded edges for the artwork or round artwork (vinyl style).
Think this could look great :)
Hey,
we talked about it so I thought to open an extra issue/request. :)
Would be very nice :) 鉂わ笍 As I occasionally switch between my iTunes library and Spotify :) 馃幍
Thank you for considering it. 馃憤
Hi,
You should consider using sparkle to distribute update.
This app is excellent so far. I would recommend dropping the multiple icons in menubar (or giving choice to show or not) and then having a maximum width for the text in the menubar and then let it scroll the name of the artist - song text within a customized character limit. This way if you have the song name is too long, it won't take up so much of the menu bar.
This is a minor issue, but the Next/Previous track buttons should either be more clearly buttons, or the cursor should change into a pointer when hovering over them.

First of all, thanks for SpotMenu, I love it!
I was thinking about a feature that would be helpful for me. I am always discovering new songs while listening to Spotify and I found the whole process of opening the Spotify window/right click/add the playlist very annoying. That's why I thought that a keyboard shortcut/button to directly add the current song playing to a playlist would be amazing!
Everything from clicking the menu bar icon to open the popup, to using any of the controls therein hangs for around 2-4 seconds before actually doing the action (of which can be queued up, hitting 'next' twice with a delay causes it to hang for a few seconds, skip once, hang again, skip twice)
The notification centre widget is unaffected.
Not sure what output I can provide to help?
Hi,
I posted this earlier.
I notices that SpotMenu is a little resource hungry on my system.
As it was not the case on your system, I don't know what the reason is.
Could you have a look into that? If you need additional files (or reports) please let me know which ones and how to send you.
It is not that huge of an issue but I wonder why the process on my system is so dominant.
I didn't skip tracks, just listened to music track by track.
Looks like the artist information is getting pulled in from the first artist on a track, when I think that pulling the info in from the album artist would make more sense for most use-cases.
In these screenshots, the album is "The College Dropout" by Kanye West, but since the track "Slow Jamz" has Twista listed as the first artist, SpotMenu displays his name as the artist.
Sorry for posting feature requests all the time 馃檲 .
Would be nice to have that though.
I recently discovered another little GitHub project. Maybe you guys can make great stuff together :)

I've taken the liberty of translating it into German, if you want to localise the app. 馃嚛馃嚜

updates to macOS 10.12.6 recently and found that when activating the Notification Center, it freezes. Activity monitor says both the "NOW ON SPOTIFY" widget and Notification Center do not react. I can only force quit both processes.
Using the built with the new Widget name.
Strange that only happen a few times. Now it is working...
If I press the pause button on my MacBook keyboard, the playing icon doesn't change instantly and it takes some seconds. There is some kind of delay. Maybe its possible to reduce the delay or adjust the app to have no delay.
It's the same with the song title: If you press next, it takes a few seconds to change the title/artist in the bar.
If Spotify isn't running then run it after click. It will be usefull because after Spotify is closed it take only places and don't do anything. That would be easy and usefull feature for icon in menu. Thanks ! It work better than other solution.
If ForceTouch can be used then it can play/pause song. It is usefull?
One more think. Tags in git are better than zip file in repository. After all everybody looking for executable file in that place rather than in source code. :)
Hey, thanks for the great app!
I have a question rather than an issue: SpotMenu is also closed after I close the Xcode after running it. Is it an expected behaviour? How can I prevent SpotMenu to be closed even though I close Xcode?
Thanks!
OS - Sierra (10.12.4)
Version 1.4.1 is glitchy. The icon in the menu bar seems to be blinking and the song name/info is not displayed in the menu bar. I downloaded Version 1.4 and ran it and it works fine.
Could be nice to have this software in homebrew 馃憤
Hello,
Great app! Not to say fantastic.
It would be absolutely a perfect feature match if there would be somewhere a little "+" to add a song to the playlist when listening to random music not in our library
If you make this happen this would be top notch.
Cheers
@kmikiy I really love the app, but I am currently experiencing lagging between Spotify and SpotMenu, when I change a song it takes about 2 seconds to update on SpotMenu. And it also shows the album cover as a blank person and takes another couple seconds to update.
In the notification centre is has frozen on a song and won't change to the correct song, despite me uninstalling the app and reinstalling it again. The same song is still frozen in the notification centre
If a song in Spotify is resumed from hotkey (F8) the "Is Playing" symbol doesn't show immediately. Only when the application in the status-bar is clicked.
Hello,
I opened new issues for each request I had on the other post :)
Could you please add an update mechanism into the app? :) Thank you very much!
Wishlist: please add the option to chose smaller fonts or even better two lines in the menubar. It is getting crowded in the menubar :-)
Reinier.
Hello, I really liked your app, but can I give you a tip? In the title already says, in the menu bar has more icons, we have the icon of spotify and one that appears when the music is playing. I think only the name of the song would be great.
I'm using Bartender 2 and the app icon seems to flicker, when Spotify is closed and only the icon is shown in the menu bar.
Maybe one minor thing (this is complaining on such a high level though :P):
Widget: When no music is played (Spotify app no open) maybe you could show up something like "Open Spotify" instead the silhouette cover.
Thank you so much for this awesome app! It is amazing!
Would be awesome if it could handle multiple players, e.g. iTunes or Apple Music as well.
There is a App called MiniPlay (a widget for Spotify and iTunes for the Notification Center) which is unfortunately not in active development.
Maybe you could make a great widget for Notification Center Player?
This one is already awesome!
But it was rather hard to find it.
PS: The preference tab seems to work not correctly. When I click on it nothing happens.
I would like to be able to see what/who the song/artist is, but I can't have it on my Menubar, and would prefer to not have to grab the mouse to see it. A simple keyboard shortcut to toggle the menu could likely solve this.

Dude i like and use your application, I'm here proposing a design that I think would look nice
Taking advantage of the current design, I did a little editing in photoshop and I will explain the design.
The art of the album covers the whole tab
The forward and rewind controls would be paired with the current play / pause that appears when we move the mouse.
The artist information, music and tempo of the song could stay the same way and in the same place.
I hope you like the suggestions
Is there any chance this feature will be implemented?
After a while of having spotmenu in the toolbar, it crashes and no longer appears in the toolbar. And I have to reopen it, anyone know what the issue may be?
Thanks
Hi,
It would be nice to be able to save the current song playing to our Spotify library without having to open the app.
If I turn off the preferences for Show artist
and Show title
I have no way to see artist or title, even in the popover. Please add an option to Show track info in popover
. I would recommend adding the text below the seek bar so that it doesn't disrupt how people are used to mousing in the popover. It would be nice to have the text formatted as:
Artist - Title
Album
Hi,
It would be great to hide the song title when Spotify is paused because most people never quit their Mac app it can become annoying to always see the title since it can take a lot of place in the menu bar.
This looks a little awkward. It shows when I click on the title in the menu bar, the standard action. It is a focus ring for cycling through the buttons with the tab key. It should probably have nothing selected at first, and first press of tab could cycle the focus ring on to the first button. Or at the very least have the focus ring start on the more commonly used button: pause/play or next. Previous track is definitely not the most used button.
Is it possible to get OSX 10.10 support for version 1.2?
Is there any way to hide the Spotify and/or music note icons? Love the app but the text itself already takes up a lot of real estate.
