slack-etiquette.online's Issues

[Issue] add E-Mail vs Slack

Describe the issue
We should add a chapter about E-Mail vs Slack. When to use what.

Additional context
At least form companies Slack should NOT replace all E-Mails. A guideline for when to use what could be very helpful. At least, questions everyone should ask themself.

[Issue] add emoji responses

Describe the issue
A good slack etiquett should have an emoji response glossary as well

Additional context
example:

  • 👀= “I’ve seen your message”
  • ✅or ✔ = “Approved” or “I finished the training”
  • 👍= "got it" or "I agree"
  • ➕= “add my vote to this” or "plus one"
  • 👏= “Great job!” or “Well done!”
  • 🙏= "Thank you!" or "I appreciate that!"
  • :solved: = "question in this thread is answered"
  • 🎯= "on point" or "nailed it"
    ....

[Issue] add missing video calls behaviour

Describe the issue
In the common slack etiquette the video call behavior is missing, because S2 is doing it vie hangout or teams. But Slack has the video call option, so we should add right behavior to the manifesto

Firs things coming to my head

  • mute your self
  • turn on camera to see each other (turn off if there is no good internet connection)
  • adjust your camera (with example picture)
  • make sure to have a proper internet connection; ethernet cable over wifi (turn off wifi)
    -...

[Issue] add Google Meet Version

Describe the issue
At Google Meet inside the G Suite there are not all the features like slack, but an ettiquette for it would be nice 😃

[BUG] Dependencies Warning

"We found a potential security vulnerability in one of your dependencies.

On asking good questions asynchronously

I think this guide deserves a section on how to ask good questions in Slack (or any chat):

Bad:

Them: Hey!

time passes until I enter the chat

Me: Yes?

time passes until they see my response

Them: Can I ask you a question?
Me: Yes, sure.

Them is typing...

(time passes until I can finally start answering their question ...)

Them is typing...

(... and they rephrase their question ...)

Them: Nevermind, I've figured it out!

(In the worst case for me rubber-duck debugging helped them to solve it while they wrote down their problem)

Good:

Them: Hey, I need to thing by time, could you help me with this? Continue to explain problem.

time passes until I enter the chat

Me: sure, I can have a look at it by time.

later

Me: here you go ...

The point is to use chat as asynchronously as possible and not to pull in people's attention unnecessarily.
