We use it in controller-runtime (a kubebuilder subproject) for more than 6 months. Works fine for us.

how did you use? kube-batch is a scheduler which need apiserver, controller and kubelet.

We provide it as a package called envtest in controller-runtime. It basically bring up a control plane (kube-apiserver and etcd). You can find it at https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/controller-runtime/blob/bd4677326d3a1e201f986bf798638fd38fbe3680/pkg/envtest/server.go#L28.
Kubebuilder is a SDK for creating controller etc. In the test file kubebuilder generated, it uses envtest. e.g.
