🚀 Installation

1. Install a userscript manager:

   • ScriptCat for Chrome, Firefox or Edge
   • Tampermonkey for Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Opera
   • Violentmonkey* for Chrome, Firefox or Edge
   • OrangeMonkey* or OrangeMonkey Pro* for Chrome

2. Install BraveGPT (will load in userscript manager installed above)

3. Visit search.brave.com, type your search, engage bot!

*Violentmonkey, OrangeMonkey & OrangeMonkey Pro do not support Streaming Mode, so are not recommended

Tampermonkey Users

If you are installing Tampermonkey (v5.2.0+) for the first time from the Chrome Web Store, you must enable Developer Mode for userscripts to function.

To do so, visit chrome://extensions > activate Developer Mode toggle > restart browser

💡 Note: If you installed Tampermonkey from the add-on store for Firefox, Microsoft Edge or Opera, then Developer Mode is not required.

🕵️ Proxy Mode

Proxy API Mode (disabled by default) returns text responses using GPT-4o, without the need for a chatgpt.com account.

When disabled, a ChatGPT account is required to fetch responses. If OpenAI API is acting unreliable, enable Proxy Mode like this:

Support more search engines and even merge with duckduckgpt?

Hello, I just get started to try this browser plug-in, also trying to contribute (#16, #17), and I found https://github.com/KudoAI/duckduckgpt, it looks like there may be a lot function/code base can be shared between this two projects, which save the developer and contributor a lot of effort to enhance the feature, so just wondering would you consider to just merge them, and more search engines support can be added? Thanks!

Error loading dependencies

I received a notification saying i had to install or reinstall bravegpt, so i tried and i got this.

Streaming Mode in Edge results in `STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION` error

Apparently a common false positive for many sites/apps when rendering streams in Edge: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftedge/forum/all/status-access-violation-issues/1fd4a2ef-6736-441f-8421-6ed167105093

(For now, BraveGPT auto-disables Streaming Mode for Edge users)

Please remove official Brave Logos from the artwork

We can't allow this [logo usage] simply because it looks like Brave Software created it. Totally fine to create a plugin for Brave Search specifically as you have done. Just make it clear that it's from you and not from us please.

Otherwise, go for it. Let us know if you have any questions.

(Fine print: devs or someone other than me may have other thoughts. I am just offering branding help.)

Not GPT-4?

With all due respect, this project claims to be powered by GPT-4, but the behavior looks not (from the history on ChatGPT(chat.openai.com)), I also checked the source code, it's gpt-3.5-turbo:

Not sure if I misunderstood something? Consider that not everyone has ChatGPT Plus subscription, maybe a toggle button to switch the model would be helpful?

Not working

It worked for a few weeks then it stop. Installed violentmonkey to see if it was tampermonkey fault but nope.
