07-intro-to-the-cloud

Welcome to our cloud computing section. I have good news and bad news for you. The bad news is that we are not meeting in person tonight. I will miss you all. The good news is that I've secretly been teaching you cloud computing this whole time. From 12 Factor applications to setting up your cloud workstations, you all have already been exposed to some of the main concepts of cloud computing. This week we will unpack those concepts even further. If you have any question or get stuck please reach out in the slack channel. Also, continue working on you capstones.

##Part 0

  1. Watch the Cloud Computing Intro Video
  2. Watch Google Cloud Platform 101

##Part 1

Define the following Terms: 0. Egress

  1. Ingress
  2. Region
  3. Zone
  4. Virtual Machine
  5. DNS
  6. docker
  7. kubernetes
  8. Cloud Native

##Part 2

  1. What is the difference between Service Level Agreement (SLA) and Service Level Objective (SLO)?
  2. What are 3 things to consider when choosing a public cloud provider?
  3. What is "vender lock-in" and what are some stratefies to avoid it?

##Part 3

Public Cloud providers offer many of the same services under different names. Using only these 3 resources fill out the chart below by identifying the products that provide the same services across public clouds. If the service is not offered by a cloud provider put N/A

Resources:
