my-hassio-addons's Issues

AP does not start: Could not connect to kernel driver

I am having issues using this add-on with a RPi4 and a fresh install of HAOS 7.1.

These are the logs I get:

I am using mostly the default configuration:

interface: wlan0
ssid: PORTAL
wpa_passphrase: ***
channel: '4'
network: 192.168.99.0
address: 192.168.99.1
netmask: 255.255.255.0
broadcast: 192.168.99.255
fixed_ips:
  - name: outlet1
    mac_address: '00:00:00:00:00'
    ip: 192.168.99.10

Where do I put the configuration

If I add it the example to configuration.yaml the file will not parse because the associated integration cannot be found.

If I add:

hassio-wifi-hotspot:
  ...
  ...

with the example configuration beneath the integration name then configuration.yaml will not parse.

Now stuck.

Allow an open WiFi hotspot

I have a requirement for an open wireless hotspot on my home assistant node (to support connection of some old HP WiFi printers that can't do WPA-2) but I see that the addon doesn't support this.

I've made some trivial changes which just allow the entry of an empty wpa-passphrase and in this case create on open access point and otherwise revert to the default behaviour.

If you are interested I can submit these as a pull request.

Not working with latest HA version 2022.8.2

Can't get more than 8 devices connected at the same time

This addon is interesting but when I'm trying to connect more than 8 devices, the hotspot refuses the connection.
Any ideas ?
I don't have specific logs or errors.
I have also read on many topics, that the raspberry pi can't accept more than X connections. It depends. It could be 8, 10, 20 etc...
Do you use an external USB wifi dongle ?
