htm-css-code-along-3's Issues

Repository does not exist.

Repository for github.com:learn-co-students/fe-exceptional-realty-web-0915.git dost not exist. Perhaps this should be the htm-css-code-along-3-web-0915 repo?

HTML files not updated with indicated changes

Hey there! While doing this lab, I noticed that the files contained in this repository aren't reflective of the changes the instructor indicated he made from the last lesson, Code-Along-II (e.g. added some content to the bottom of pages, added some new sections to the "listings" page, etc.). This only proved problematic at the end of the lab - when demonstrating pseudo selectors, the instructor used one of those added elements to demonstrate. It's obviously easy to find a work around to see the style in action, but I thought I'd just shoot a heads up!

Best,
Skip Suva

Lab not showing that I opened a pull request

I no longer see where I can report a bug with this update to Learn.co, so this is where I'll file the grievance. Here's the issue I've forked this lab and I am not getting credit for it. Check it out:

I'd like my green bubble of accomplishment please.

Code-along video vs Repository

The html files in the repository are different than the files that are shown in the code-along video. Since the files in the code-along have a lot more HTML5 elements I am not sure if we should add them ourselves or if the directory just contains the wrong file.

I have problems submitting.

i finished Code Along II and submitted it on my terminal, however on learn.co it appears as if i didn't submit it, therefore i don't get the green light to continue with the following exercises properly.
i didn't get a response on my question on learn.co so i decided to skip it and continue with the lessons.
again i started working on Code Along Exercise 3 and the same thing happened. i did everything like in the video and when i submitted nothing changes on learn.co.
is there a problem with learn.co????
why is this happening ??

This code is the same as the last code along

The code that you fork this lab is the exact same as Code Along Exercise II. The contact page is blank, for example that’s one of the tasks Code Along II completes; furthermore, one can see that Jonathan’s real_estate_listing.html is more filled out than was covered in the previous videos. He has sections or Condos, Townhomes, Co-ops, and Featured Listings.

I would suggest updating the code so when students are cloning this lab there is no need to play catch up. Someone who is detail-oriented like myself really gets caught up in these changes and I have a harder time focusing on the lab.

code along files aren't updated to match the video

Hey, I forked and cloned this lab to go along with the video for this section and the speaker has a bunch of added details on his pages so I got confused and cloned the lab again. I had to manually play and pause the video until I had everything in my files to match.

This otherwise excellent video needs to be udpated

Example: around 23:11, the video prompts us to search for the Elsie Swash Caps font on the Google Fonts site. The instructor walks us through how to do a 'quick use' import - but the interfaces on Google Fonts have changed a lot since the video was recorded. In the video you grab a link to insert at the top of your CSS file - but Google Fonts now tells you to grab a code snippet (in this case)
<style> @import url('https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Elsie+Swash+Caps:400,900'); </style>
and paste it into the section of the HTML file.

most of the info that is outdated is negligible, but this one seems like a significant change.

Instruction #2 Referring to the PR is confusing.

I've debugged two students in a row not understanding how to add the upstream remote. There's a collision of terms with the usage of team vs batch:

git remote add upstream [email protected]:learn-co-students/fe-exceptional-realty-.git (example batch: fe-0415 or ruby-0515).

It'd be nice to figure out a Learn CommonMark syntax for dynamic content - like:

git remote add upstream [email protected]:learn-co-students/fe-exceptional-realty-{learn-batch_name}.git (example batch: fe-0415 or ruby-0515).

^^ @matbalez

For now, we should make it very clear with something like:

Step 1

Step 2

And then tell them to use the upstream remote address in the git remote add upstream command.

We should also include instructions for removing the upstream and re-adding it should they need to do that.
