docassemble-mohudevictionproject's Issues

County from address, not question, used

include_caption.docx uses trial_court.address.county - not populating

I changed all uses of trial_court_county to trial_court.address.county

i added

trial_court.address.county
trial_court.division
trial_court.circuit

to interview order

this seems to be working now (tested city of st. louis and non city of st. louis) but doesn't seem to be the best way to do it

Change explanation language for additional plaintiffs

id: names of opposing parties - petition

This explanation
Your landlord is called the Plaintiff in an eviction case, and the Plaintiff’s name and address is near the top of the Caption on the left.
doesn't seem to help for the second or additional plaintiff

maybe add language about why there would be a second plaintiff?

id: Petition_introduction

Remove "introducing" language

Is this in the right spot in the interview?

Make sure bold extends over the full document title(s)

Use the same language -- e.g., "Landlord's petition" or "Summons and Petition for eviction" don't alternate phrasing

Loop payment attempt questions to support multiple payment attempts

Similar to how Docassemble asks for information for multiple Users.

The Answer would look something like: Defendant contacted Plaintiff via phone on October 6, 2022, communicating intent to pay the past-due rent in part. Plaintiff refused payment. Defendant contacted Plaintiff in person on October 7, 2022, communicating intent to pay the full amount of past-due rent. Plaintiff refused payment.

Add question about service of summons and posting warning

There must be questions asked very early on about how the client was served. If client was served by posting, then a prompt should appear before going in further in the application letting them know that if they file something with the court, they are consenting to the court having personal jurisdiction over then, and possible opening themselves up to monetary damages. I propose the following wording be displayed to tenants in this situation. "Tenant, please note that you have been served by posting. This means that all that your landlord can receive from this court action is possession of the home in question. However, if you proceed to file any of the documents you may receive from this interview you could be subjecting yourself to a monetary judgement. This means that you could receive a judgement stating that you owe money when originally you would not have. You are welcome to continue should you choose to do so, or you may stop the process now and contact your local Legal Services provider for more details."
