Project Proposal

Purpose of the outcome;

A website framework in which students can sign in and out rental devices based on a device barcode and student ID, which provides full autonomy for MRs Gamil and the other learning support teachers, who take time out of their work in order to manually log students signing in and out devices.

My digital outcome will outline the following features;

• A website framework hosted online to be used by potentially several teacher at once on different platforms
• Simple and accessible UI for easy pickup use by new teachers or admins
• Device Barcodes for students to scan for rental/return
• Page for teachers to confirm devices have been returned
• Help page for assistant as a teacher, student or admin
• Ability to modify device data, create new devices and view devices in circulation
• Student ID database used to correlate student with their ID - (potential Kamar integration)
• Rental logs which display all relevant data to teachers
• Data analysis of rental statistics, and downloadable data of rental logs
• Ability to add new teachers and moderators
• Ability to manually add device rental logs
• Ability to report errors or issues
• Account heirachy system with Admins and Teachers
• Ability to download other relevant data such as device data, student data, rental logs
• A page to view previous downloads, list of students
• Dynamic Homeroom table in database to set list of valid homerooms/current teachers

Create page containing only unsigned off entries where an admin can sign it off

Setup page for detecting when signing up an unique database constraints are not met

Figure out how to hide the content when sidenav is opened

Create class to open and close connection between databases

Make top left corner of banner redirect to index page

Create an error catch where if there are no more devices of a certain type, the user cannot choose that type

No 404 and 403 pages for catching errors

Create popup for signup page before it redirects to loginpage

Research Database Software

Change "Circulations" in sidenav to devices. move circulations link to logs accordion

Important distinction; A circulating device is one that has not been returned. A signoff devices is a device that is returned but has not been signed off by a teacher. Maybe this distinction does not matter as a teacher might have to be present for a device to be returned. Work this out with Mrs Gamil

Add help page to side nav bar

Create page where an admin can see all logs of device rental, choosing by date or other options

Login page not working-- always displays login failure message

Create a way to store whether a user is logged in, and store cookies locally

Create page where admin can see the logs of devices created and modified

Create notes input for device log, but not require it be filled out

Issue found where after signing up, the correct url will be redirected to, but the dynamic error message page displays

Database Working with Website

Create error catch where user cannot choose to log out a device already in circulation

Begin work on main.html and index.html

Use external CSS files instead of local stylesheets

This is the date that the primary branch of code development is due to be complete.

User Methodologies Assessment

Set default period_returned value to Unreturned

Set input limits to each field in new device and new logs

Create login button on website which can be used to determine login status

Create device log page where admin can see list of all current devices

Add date account created and # of logins to users table in database.

Create restrictions for login and signup page text entry fields
