Time Series Analysis of Olympic Athletes Data

This repository contains the Jupyter Notebook and associated data for my project on the analysis of Olympic athletes, completed as part of my Data Visualization and Exploration course at the University of the Witwatersrand.

Project Overview

The project involves a detailed analysis of a dataset containing records of athletes who have participated in the Olympic Games. The focus is on applying time series data analysis techniques to uncover patterns and trends in the data.

Key Objectives

  • Data Cleaning: Implementing robust methods for preprocessing the dataset.

  • Time Series Analysis: Exploring how athlete participation and performance have evolved over the years.

  • Data Visualization: Employing various visualization techniques to illustrate findings.

Technologies Used

  • Python
  • Pandas & Numpy for data manipulation
  • Matplotlib & Seaborn for data visualization

Dataset

The dataset, athlete_events.csv, includes information on Olympic athletes, their countries, sports, and performance metrics.
