Standalone cycle-accurate BFS accelerator

In order to explore various optimization techniques on the BFS accelerator, we developed a cycle-accurate model using SystemC. As the memory access is critical to the accelerator's performance, we use Ramulator [1] as the memory model.

Before starting the BFS simulator, we also have a equvalient software implementation in bfs directory. Basically, we want to verify the correctness of the optimization techniques. At the same time, we may do some analysis here as well based on some statistic counters. m

Getting Started

SystemC-2.3.1 is used for the accelerator design. You need to download and compile it first. Then you may change the SystemC library path accordingly in the Makefile. (There are some strange SC_METHOD synchronization problem using SystemC-2.3.1a, so I changed to SystemC-2.3.1. It works fine except that the systemc-2.3.1.so library is not linked correctly by simply changing the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. You may need to specify the library through ldconfig manually.) In order to compile Ramulator, a C++11 compiler (e.g., clang++ or g++-5) is required. You may refer to Ramulator git repo for more details. When the compilation environment is ready, you can compile and run the example using the following commands.

$ cd graph_accelerator
$ make
$ make exe
