icecat's Issues

gnu: request: arm: ffmpeg: Enable v4l2-ffmpeg for ARM build.

Starting from FF 116 there is v4l2-ffmpeg hardware video decoding flag, currently and by default it come with vaapi-ffmpeg enabled but this is not useful on arm because vaapi it only for Intel and Amd gpus. v4l2-ffmpeg is not compatible vaapi-ffmpeg so both can not enabled at same time so vaapi-ffmpeg need to be fully disabled to v4l2-ffmpeg work.
v4l2-ffmpeg is useful to Purism Librem 5 device.

Request: Adding Global Menu Patch to IceCat

If the global menu patch is applied to IceCat, it would significantly enhance the user experience by improving consistency with Linux environments and optimizing space usage.

I wonder if we could add an extra patch beyond the default IceCat patches.

I686 branch for debian 11 is offline

So Im pretty sure you may be considering discontinuing the i686 release of icecat however I just wanted to ask if you could at least keep the last release online. I use some legacy pcs to save on battery life and footprint and its very useful to have a binary release of icecat ready to go so I dont have to use a browser overidden with telemetry. If you could update the branch thatd be awesome too as compiling on 32 bit hardware takes a really long time (ungoogled chromium took 3 weeks on my 1.06ghz model however that may also be due to the fact that pc had no internal fans)

Request: Debian sid package

As per title-- I'd prefer not to have to use Debian 11 repos on my sid install. (I get that it'd be the same icecat version as the Debian 11 repo)

Icon not found for the .desktop file

snapshot30

The gear is the default icon set by Trinity Desktop for launchers without a correct icon.

In the menu, however, there is no such default icon given that this is only for launchers. There is no icon directly.

I didn't check the .deb package yet to find if an icon is provided which I think it is.

Segmentation Fault with Captive Portal Setting Enabled

When I go to about:preferences#privacy and, under "Icecat-specific privacy settings," enable the "Detect captive portal" setting, then close the browser, it does not reopen, instead giving a "segmentation fault." This is true in any profile including the default ones.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Install latest icecat
  2. Open icecat
  3. In "about:preferences#privacy," under "Icecat-specific privacy settings," enable "Detect captive portal"
  4. Close the browser
  5. In a command line try to open icecat

Expected Result:
Icecat opens normally and can detect captive portals.

Actual Result:
Icecat refuses to open, saying "Segmentation Fault."
