all-windows's Issues

Incompatible with GNOME 42

On a machine newly updated to Ubuntu 22.04 this extension is listed as "incompatible" in the Extensions Manager.

Impovement: shortcuts

This extension will be way more useful for me if there will be configurable shortcut to open list, so it can be used without mouse.

Also extra shortcuts, shift+down/shift+up, to move selection to application in next/previous workspace will be nice. Preferably with cyclic selection.

white box

I'm using Gnome 13.10 with 3.8, a standard install with no extra fonts etc

very basic except for the programs/applications I need

with Many Windows the menu grows off screen

If you have more windows than vertically fits the screen, the menu extends beyond the screen edge

The entries off-screen can be handled blindly using the keyboard

EXPECTED:
scrolling of menu items so they can all be made visible

Move Icon to the left

Is it possible, to move the "all window trayicon" to the left of the panel before the "Activities" field?
It would make the workflow even quicker if using it alongside the dash to dock - extension on the left side like it is default in ubuntu.

Add new functionality: save and restore window positions across suspend/resume

A major annoyance I have had using Ubuntu with multiple monitors is that window positions are not remembered across suspend/resume. From what I have read, nothing is being done to fix the problem, so I decided to add the functionality to a GNOME Shell extension. It's better than nothing until the problem is fixed properly.

This being my first work on an extension, I thought I would try adding the functionality to an existing extension. All Windows seemed like a good choice.

My code for save/restore is now in good shape and I have been using it for a while. The menu has two new items at the top: "Save window positions" and "Restore window positions". Except for the addition of those menu items and hooks in _init() and destroy(), all of the new code is separate from the existing code. While the Save and Restore buttons can be used at any time, I was pleased to find that it was simple to have the save/restore done automatically at suspend/resume, at least for the resume timing encountered on my computer.

I've opened this issue to see if there is any interest in adding save/restore to All Windows. It could be made into its own extension, but its UI would look like that of All Windows, just without the window menu items.

Improvement: Multiple Screens support

If you have multiple Screens it would make sense if you have also the icon on the second screen. So you don´t have to go over two screens with the mouse if you want to reach that list.

I know there´s no bar at all, but perhaps there´s another solution for that. Something like a dock for that icon.

cheers
