The projects needs some documentation in form of GitHub Wiki to explain:

• The scope of the project
• How to set up the development environment
• How to build and deploy the extension manually
• How to use the extension
• What is the meaning of each setting and how they affect the behavior of the extension

Extension not recognized

Hello !
First, thank you for continuing to update this project.
I have cloned the repo correctly, but the "Extensions Manager" software does not find the extension.
Here are my specifications:
Fedora 37
Gnome 43.4

GNOME 44 Support

Please add support for GNOME 44 to ensure compatibility with the latest version of GNOME and provide users with access to new features and improvements.

I had a question:
Do you have any plans to publish this on GNOME Extensions?
As original developer no longer maintaining this.

Adhere to GNOME Shell Extensions Review Guidelines

Changes needs to be made to adhere to GNOME extensions policies. In particular:

1. Make sure no objects are created before enable() and everything is cleaned up in disable()
2. Evaluate logging messaging and configure a default INFO level
3. Evaluate metadata and schema requirements

Hey thanks for your work here, I'm the maintainer of https://github.com/alexduf/gnome-github-notifications and my priorities have changed a little bit so I can no longer maintain it.

I'm seeing you're actively maintaining this fork, would it be okay if I updated my readme to redirect to your repo? also do you have any plans to push your extension to extensions.gnome.org?

Add unit testing

Investigate which framework to use and how to set it up in order to cover the basic functionality with unit testing. Possible candidates are:

1. Jest
2. Mocha

Guidance on how to generate the token

Additional information is needed on how to generate the token required for the extension to work. This can be done by:

• Documenting what are the permission required for the token in the documentation #4
• Add a simple wizard/configuration to set up the permission needed and open the GitHub page with the correct configuration
