This userscript uses the Cobalt API to download the videos, so definitely go check them out.

As stated by the Cobalt's creator(s), this is NOT a piracy tool and cannot be used as such. It can only download free, publicly accessible content. Such content can be easily downloaded through any browser's dev tools. Pressing one button is easier, so I made a convenient, ad-less tool for such repeated actions.

I have tried various download tools for youtube, and this one is the best. It's clean, simple, and no-nonsense. An unobtrusive arrow in the player works with just a click. Thank you!

feat: custom downloader

Issue

Currently you are restricted to downloading form a certain provider. This creates a dependency to that specific provider to be able to download.

Solution

Add an option to use a custom downloader.

Additional context

In my specific case, I have a downloader for Spotify. I have registered it in Windows to start using a custom protocol. This downloader would be able to launch the protocol and pass in necessary variables such as the title, the channel or the video id.

Notify popup is not able to close and when the next video autoplay, Auto download (4 downloads) is initiated without download click.

The Script is very good, and the download icon is properly placed and its working good. But the Notify popup is not able to close and it is loaded in the right handside top corner of the browser.

Pl. help, to get the notify popup to close in some internal of time.

I don't know why it's not working for me anymore, when it used to work.
It's possible that something else is interfering with it, I haven't done much testing. I am on linux, using a chrome based browser and see the download button, but I can't download properly. For example, on this random video, I am able to download an mp4, but an about:blank page opens up and there is no possiblity to download an mp3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKYO94cJzNg. Then, on another link to music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prge5lp5hQc I can neither download and mp4 nor a mp3. Then at https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=prge5lp5hQc mostly, I don't have a download arrow, but when I do I can't download anything and have a script error message telling me to wait, but that does nothing. 😥
