zezlup

Zezlup is a little slide-puzzle game for Linux created for the sole purpose of learning a bit of game development.

To make it more fun (and also learn more), I made my own tiny renderer for this project.

Build

Dependencies

• zlib
• glfw
• glew
• glm
• freetype

To build zezlup:

git clone https://github.com/manekenpix/zezlup.git
cd zezlup
make release

Game

To run the game:

./zezlup

Menu

Select the puzzle you want to solve (use your mouse or arrows and enter keys)

Gameplay

Controls:

• Arrow keys: move selector.
• x: slide the selected cell.
• z (toggle): display the solution of the puzzle.
• Backspace: back to menu.
• Esc: exit zezlup.

Display the solution of the puzzle when you feel lost

zezlup's Issues

Improve shuffling algorithm

Implement an algorithm to ensure that every tiles are moved at least once when shuffle.

Simplify Grid to avoid storing coordenates in a separate structure

Fix slide animation

Add a shuffler to make sure the puzzle is solvable

Add test for all the module

Add shader bind check to minimize the number of times shader binding takes place

Refactor and clean up libraries

Add a top bar with stats about the current game

Refactor the Shader class to use all the new tools

Refactor mouse code to unify functionalities for menu and game

Use stateless component

Currently, React components refresh on state/grid changes. This is not needed as all the UI changes happen inside the canvas and are handled by WebGL.
